They started it. We didn't. Remember the protests/marches last year? There's your answer. They're trying to have a good life but insulting us by making demands, burning our flag, and screaming at us to "go back to Europe" etc. The list goes on and on.... And they expect us to welcome them with open arms. No thanks, I don't want those types in my country.

I don't mind immigrants but the illegal immigrants are what make me mad. It's not fair that some people have to work hard to earn citizenship while some can just cross the border and settle down.
Everyone here is an immigrant. We just don't like the ones that are not paying taxes, bringing in drugs and using our services. Of course, the illegal immigrants are willing to commit the crimes that US citizens just arent willing to commit anymore, so that keeps the police in business. Theres good and bad sides I guess....

Don't pay any attention to them. Most of them are pitifully uninformed about the immigration issue. Just remember, the one with the biggest mouth usually has the smallest intellect.
I know you don't mean to target everyone who's against illegal immigration, since there *are* some social and financial hits the American taxpayers take because of it. That said? I know JUST what you mean about the people who are almost rabid about it. The ones who talk about standing on the border with guns, or think illegal immigrants should be jailed. Hello--the crime they've committed is not a violent crime, it's at worst a financial crime (and most of them have strong reasons for taking that risk). Often in this country people who commit financial crimes are *fined* instead of jailed, and they certainly aren't shot.
As for what's wrong with people who are so rabid about the immigrants? I think it's scapegoating. They know *something* is wrong in this country, and it's easiest to blame the immigrants instead of keeping their role in perspective.
ETA: Intriguingly, in the Hill Country area of Texas people used to speak German in the public schools until WW1; at the point that we went to war against Germany, that changed. But they didn't start speaking English just because it was the right thing to do.
Where I think there *is * a touch of racism in peoples' concern about illegal immigrants is, many of the arguments keep slipping into the complaints about Mexican Americans in general (speaking Spanish, for example) instead of about more legitimate things that are strictly problems caused by illegal aliens, such as the schools and hospitals. That definitely blurs the line, and not in a good way. But nobody likes to be accused of being a racist.
World's full of haters, you can't stop it. Hopefully they don't travel themselves, they don't deserve to.

You might want to pull her head out of your butt...I'm sick and tired of hearing spanish more than english...I'm sick and tired of paying welfare to them so that they can keep popping out their babies...I'm sick and tired of illegals that don't pay their taxes but still expect to benefit from my taxes...But most of all, I'm sick and tired of seeing more mexican flags than American flags...if mexico is so freakin great, Go Home!!!!
I dont mind a lot of immigrants but there are people that come here and dont respect our home. My biggest complaint about some immigrants is that they dont make an effort to learn the language. There are also many that come here to mooch off of our society. These are the types of immigrants that give the rest a bad name.

In Mexico, the immigration policy is a lot harsher then ours. If you are considered an illegal alien in their country, you get two years in prison. If you move to their country legally and become a citizen, you cannot have a voice in their politics, participate in marches and cannot hold an elected office. Mexico doesn't want our military patrolling our borders, but the Mexican military patrols all their borders. Isn't this being a bit hypocritical? Maybe we should pass the same laws that Mexico has.
I don't hate immigrants. But I certainly don't appreciate people coming here illegally, stealing another persons identity, using services that my tax dollars are paying for, and then acting as if I'm a racist for not being happy about it. My wife is 1/2 Mexican, her mother came to America legally. She's also outraged that others feel they are above the law.

They are swamping and ruining our children's schools. There are too many of them, and as a class they are too poor to pay the $10,000 per year in local taxes to cover each child's education costs. We subsidize our poor and those we legally allow in. The children of illegals are not more important than our own, and their education funds should not be taken from our children.
ESL and ESL 'intervention' courses are very expensive. Paying for such a huge amount of them has caused gifted programs, music, p. e. and language courses OUR children used to have to be cut. Further, our schools physically can only hold so many. Right now in LA, schools are running on 'year round schedules' making scheduling family vacations a nightmare, and are being tought by emergency credentialed teachers in classrooms with students numbering in the high 40s in middle school.
Our children's education is their future, and illegal immigrants who bring or have children here are taking that future from our children.

Racism has always existed, its part of the history of this country and it always will.
Nobody hates legal immigration which is the majority of us in America excluding the American Indian that we took this country from! People who come in here without a pass port or visa are breaking the law. If you come her legal and learn the language which by the way is English. My forefathers were German and American Indian and guess what, they all had to learn English and were here LEGALLY. What part of ILLEGAL do you not understand, they are breaking into our country.

Illegal immigrants come to this country to work and make better lives for them and their family's, and yes they too can pay taxes.

Well firstly you don't know what experience they had with illegal immigrants in general they could have been robbed and dislike them now. Secondly when like in UK they push peoples limits by scrounging off everyone else why they don't work or speak good English people are bound to snap!

However, I refuse ( read this refuse) to condone, accept, decriminalize the act of crossing this border without going through the legal channels required to gain entry into this country.
Some people may say some pretty nasty things, but that my dear is due to the frustration caused by answering arguments that suggest a criminal act is justified because we ( America) have something they ( criminal trespassers)want.

Once again.....there's a BIG difference between LEGAL immigrants and ILLEGAL ones. There is a line. There is also a line between people legal or illegal that come here to be a part of America and learn the language and those that voice intent of taking over this country and breeding out and killing the "whites" and flying their Mexican flags and committing hords of other crimes against American citizens. I know the difference.
