I'm 18 and from india and actually i want to ask about dependent visa, my real sister is USA citizen and wants to sponser me and my mom b'coz my father has expired. My sister is soo much confused that if she sponser my mom then i automatically get visa as i'm dependent on my mom OR she should apply for both individually??? if she apply for my visa individually then it take 10-11 years for me and this is soo long period. i know my mom will get visa in 5 months after apply but she will not go without me as there is bonding between mother and child..do u hear any success stories of dependent visa. plz plz help me i'm in sooo confused and really need ur guidance. Thanx all for ur precious time

Ranjha, I am so sorry that some people on this site are such idiots. The first person doesn't give you ANY advice. She's just being a *****! Why people if you don't have something constructive to say then don't just answer for the two points. Second guy, you don't even READ! He said he is 18! And then you tell him if he is over 21!

So Ranjha, listen to me, because I have been through this. You mean by your real sister that she is your "blood sister" right? That you and her have the same mom and same dad. OK, I understand this. This is not so difficult.
Your Mom and you (because you are still under 21) are in a group called "preference". this means that you both will be issued a visa number right away. So you should be given your visas at the same time. It's not going to take years for you to get it. And anyway, if your mom gets her visa, she doesn't HAVE to go immediately, it just means she has the RIGHT to go. It doesn't mean she HAS to go. Your sister will be taking care of the papers in America. Then when she gets all the papers done, then either you will both go to the Embassy in India and they will issue your visas there or you will send your passports here and your visas will be placed in your passports here in the States, but most likely you will get them there because you will have to have a medical exam.
Tell your sis to apply for both of you at the same time. There is no reason not to apply for both of you at the same time. The form number is I-130. And she will have to file Affadavit of Support. Email me for more info. And don't listen to any of these idiots on here that try to discourage you.
We are not Immigration officers on here, you need to contact immigration and they will give you all the details about how this process works. You can even call and ask questions. The length of time it took you to do this and wait for different opinions, you could get answers and forms to fill out , to start the process.
If you're over 21 she has to apply separately. You can't be a beneficiary of your mother's petition if you are an adult.

What do you mean by "real" sister? If there are adoption issues here you and your mother might not be eligible for anything.
ins has your answer, not yahoo. gl and welcome
