Would you suppport a law to legalize all illegal immigrants?

A law that would legalize all illegal immigrants leaving in the US for a certain period of time, so they can pay taxes?

Answer:
Of course. What makes an immigrant illegal? Because they were not born in the US?

All people are equal, we are not special because we were born within a specific location.
no. they can come legal on their own.
No.
NO
no!
Hell no. All amnesty would do is legalize them. Once they realize how much they make after paying taxes, they'll go back to being paid under the table and they will still be abusing our benefits.
Yes I would support it. Even without us having to leave the US or pay taxes. If only I was able to vote.
No, go through the legal way.
never, but unfortunately, we are soon to get one. congress will pass an amnesty law and with bush and our senators who give no conservative leadership, it will pass.
yes i would .i am illegal.i am not a criminal or anything at all i just overstayed.all i want to do is go to school get an education and go home and make something of myself in my own community .is that so bad ..as for those coming here and doing wrong well you give us law abiding illegal immegrants a bad name .some of us just want to do good .so yes i would support and pray everyday that it passes.am tired of low paying jobs and being exploited..i just want help thats all .i pray it passes.education and go home ..thats all i'm here for .
NO!
no
ALL - no. I'd want heavy screening (no 'twice illegal' and no gang members) and I'd ONLY support it if the problem were fixed going forward, such as with a 'on this date all instate tuition and all other benefits except emergency health care will stop to illegal immigrants of ANY age (they come for their children's sake), sanctuary cities will be illegal, and citizens will be given the right to sue local and federal governments to force enforcement of immigration laws.' Also, I think we can not afford for those here to get family reconciliation to bring in yet more, so it would have to be a special category of legalization.

Without those features I would be totally opposed to it. I think stopping the problem is needed, but without that our schools and our children's educations can NOT afford amnesty, under any name.

Poor people can't pay enough in taxes to cover even the $10,000 per year it takes to educate ONE child in California, much less to cover other services poor people use. The whole system of subsidizing employer's poverty level wages through our social systems is ruining our systems and has to stop.

and to malfal above, your education is at the expense of our children's education. There are not extra spaces in schools, extra 'full credentialled teachers' extra college funds to support tuition or grants - it is all at the expense of our own. Why should we pay for you and why don't you think taking those funds is wrong? They aren't yours.
No - when amnesty was granted for millions in 1986 our government said that our immigration laws would be enforced..... so I say enforce them do not reward illegal behavior! If, in order to do this our country must put sanctions on mexico for promoting illegal entry into the US then so be it.... seems to me the tail is wagging the dog!

We are made up of immigrants but most that entered our country & helped make our country what it is had the same level of education as Americans....now we are getting only the uneducated & uncivilized made apparent by the henious crimes committed by illegal aliens!

mafall81 - law abiding illegal? ever hear of oxymoron?
Do it legal..theres nothing worse then a ilegal immigrant slamming into your car and he has no insurance and of course you cant do anything because he's not legal in the first place you cant even sue him to get your car fixed.
NO. no. No. nO. uh, that would be.................no.
No, they need to become legal on their own or be deported
The question should be.... If there was an amnesty program would the illegals take advantage of it?.

When Reagan and Bush 41 did their amnesty not all the illegals took advantage of the program. It also did not assist in the welfare, employment, and further immigration problems. It ended up being a reward for illegal activity. I would love it if the US government would pay me for every dollar I stole from other Americans.

No. I prefer they go back and start working on their problems with their own government.
Absolutely not,and the perfect example of why not has been posted above.Someone here illegally, but feels they are doing nothing wrong. The education offered in this country is for our citizens and those who have gone through the proper channels to get a visa to study in this country. You are not entitled to education in this country that others have to pay for.Go home and get an education in your own country.
I'm for giving them a one way ticket back to where they came from.
No. They are criminals, and amnesty would be saying that its okay to break the law, you are going to be rewarded for it anyway. If we are going to give illegal immigrants amnesty, we might as well give amnesty to everyone in the US that is in jail, state prisons, and federal prisons, because they're criminals too, and its wrong to discriminate.
Here is what I support:
1) Illegal aliens who cannot currently apply for adjustment of status could do so.
2) If they have been convicted of a felony they would be denied. Also if they fail a medical exam they will be denied. This is already standard practice.
3) Make the date of eligibility cut off date retroactive to discourage a race for the border of people trying to get in before it's too late.
4) They can never become a full citizen. That would be part of the punishment for being here illegally. The best they could do is become a permanent resident. If they want to become a citizen some day they would have to leave the country and apply for reentry. There can also be a fine but it has to be reasonable.
5) Limit the time during which they can apply to something like 3 months. The process doesn't have to be completed in that time but DHS has to have an application on file within that time.
6) Priority will be given to other types of applications. If someone is here legally and applying for permanent residence, their application will be processed first. Then would come illegal aliens with children born here (citizens), then families, then single illegals.
I'll support that law the day the government abolishes all taxes. So translation: never!
