all you normally need for a visa is your name and address
this visa will then marry up to your passport and flight details !!
who you book your flight with will sort it out for you!
You will need to contact the British Embassy/High Commission in Nigeria for "Entry Clearance" and the appropriate Visa. I think that Nigeria is a "Visa National" country so you will require a Visa to enter the UK.

If you wish to work in the UK, you will need a work permit - this can only be applied for by a potential employer and not by the potential employee such as yourself.
