The U.S. Southwest was purchased from the Mexican government in 1848 in a contract called the 'Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo". What few Mexicans were living here at the time became U.S. citizens by default.

Aztlan... The Mexican people are trying to claim that they are in fact like the American Indians and are "native" people. They base this off the fact that Aztlan was the "home" of the Aztecs before a migration or something to that effect... Isn't that like me claiming to be a Saudi Citizen (being entitled to annual allowances) because I am decended of Adam and he lived in Eden????
It may not belong to them but I'll tell you one thing my family pays taxes and lives in So. Calif and I used to live there and I had to go to county hospitals to get treated for a chronic illness and it used to make me so angry when I'd see these Mexican women who were pregnant and had several little kids with them and believe me there were a lot of them. I also had Mexican men make vulgar comments about me the guys that you see working at the car washes. And I got sick of seeing them at the offices where you get goverment assistance. It makes u mad because if you ask them they usually would tell u they spoke no English and also
a lot of them send the money home to Mexico to their families that they earn. They are lazy and they didn't contribute anything and were a drain on the economy.

You are very wrong, and the racist answers you have so far must make you happy eh? well amigo the Southwest was settled by the most ancients people to have lived here , the Atlatns, you can still see the pyramids , the culture is most fantastic ,there are caves drawings of space vehicles that date to over 50 thousand yrs ago! then again when these natives first saw the white Spaniards they worsipped them as gods as their legends spoke of the white ones who would re-turn from the sky! mind you if this true then the ancient astronauts were caucasians! Mexicans are very much part of this ancient culture that pre-dates the European conquest by 10 thousand yrs!
