An american flag is a great idea for a gift for someone that just became a US citizen.
I would buy them an American flag that was actually made in the usa! Or a statue of liberty to put in their house.

A huge American flag is the best present.
A flag from their country and ours. Include a card that says congratulations here is a flag so you can celebrate your heritage on X day (their country celebratory day ie. fourth of july) and your new heritage on the fourth of July.

When my co worker passed her exam we decorated her cubicle with red, white and blue ribbons, little flags, etc.
