My husband have to go to the interview for his us citizenship but the problem is ??
Answer:
Mimi-he should still go. The affidavit of lost passport proves he has been granted a passport. This shouldn't be any problem. Not showing up could be a big problem.
He should call his country's embassy in Washington DC and request assistance in replacing his passport. Once he finds out who to deal with, he should FAX them a letter and keep a copy of it.
He should take the letter, the fax sheet (showing when he sent it) and his affidavit of lost passport to the interview. Never ever miss an interview. You do want to demonstrate to them that you're doing all you can. He can't just say "oh, it's lost." He wants to show that he is taking steps to replace it.
I recently went for my citizenship and there was no mention of passport other than my greencard which they will take back.
The passport is insignificant coz of the alien card.
I would think the feds would be consistant across the country.
My interview was in a major city in the Southeast.
He should have contacted the Embassy in the country where he lost his pasport .
There's a chance that they make him do that .
You still need to go to the interview. If you don't show up, immigration will assume that you abandoned your application and reject this. They need to see his passport, because they usually examine it is to doublecheck when and how many times he entered the US, and whether each entry was legal and also check for overstays. If you lost it, then bring all of the paperwork showing that it was lost. I would recommend having your lawyer write and call the nearest embassy re: this problem as well.
