Yes, because the French don't multiply like Rabbits and demand a welfare check/food stamps/free medical care, while our rate of violent crime skyrockets. I would welcome the French, and other nationalities with open arms, provided they pulled their own weight. But don't ask me--I'm just a Rabbit!
The Mexican population is exploding out of control, that is the main issue here. Their big family mentality has doomed them to eternal poverty and we will destroy ourselves if we try and take them all in. There are 11 million illegal mexicans here, and 50 million more coming, and the next generation might be ten times that number. France is not acting so irresponsible. If we try and save them, we will destroy our prosperity and not fix the real problem.
I speak three languages, and none of them are Spanish - by choice. I refuse to be bullied into learning spanish to spare illegal immigrants the trouble of learning the language of the country they live in. The problemo with the spanish speaking population is that they refuse to assimilate into american culture. They want the US to be what Mexico is, only with more money.
It's enough that I pay extra taxes for their children's education and their medical care, and extra car insurance because they don't buy liability coverage after sending money back to Mexico. I'm not going to learn spanish on top of all that.
You are assuming that all illegals are Hispanic. You are very incorrect in that assumption. If they treated us the way the illegal Mexican aliens are treating us, you bet we would set those frogs back in the water to the east.
nobody ever said immigrants were a problem. The ILLEGAL ones here without proper documentation and who spit on this country;s laws to get here are. They do not deserve to be here and should be jailed or deported not given amnesty like some wimps in the govt want.
The issue to me isn't where the immigrants are from as long as they come here legally.

There is no problem with legal immigrants no matter what nationality. The problem is ILLEGAL, be they Hispanic, German, French or any other group.

Illegally, you mean? Because it is those who ignore our limits set to protect our schools and services that we have a problem with.
I don't know where you get the idea we are starting to speak Spanish as a 'national language' but unless you were in Louisiana, I think you'd have a hell of a hard time selling French.
You will get a lot of people telling you that they would be opposed to any illegal group, But history shows us that illegal immigrants of darker skin have a much harder time then those of lighter skin.
While the Irish as the first immigrant group suffered, being called all the things that Mexicans are called now. The Germans had it easier. The Chinese were abused though out the west. Poles and Italians (and BTW Italians were a huge illegal problem at one point the racist term WOP applied to an Italian stands for With Out Papers) were looked down upon because of language.
As far as language is concerned, the whole English thing is a joke. Until 1917 more the 33% of the US population spoke German. In fact there was a movement at one point to make German the offical language. America has not been an "english" speaking country longer then the life time of my father.

The problem is " ILLEGAL " immigrants. Immigrants are welcome, do it withing the existing rules and regulations.
I have no problem with Mexican Immigrants, or French Immigrants.. what I have a problem with is Illegal immigrants.. and I don't care what country they are from.. if they are here illegally they need to get OUT!- If they are here legally WELCOME!
In a perfect would, nobody would hate them. If people would just stop and remember that (unless they are American Indians), their ancestors ALL came from other countries. I think I'd have a hard time with a bunch of people from France, because many of them are so snotty to Americans.
I don't care who, there's just too many people for our society to handle. You have to have some control. The U.S. would enter a state of chaos if we let everyone in.

Assuming you are, as a Democrat, I have problems with anyone illegally breaking into our country be they Mexican, French, or English. If we have an illegal alien regardless of what their home country is, they should be put in jail for their crime and then deported.
I think that for the most part, it doesn't matter WHERE they came from as much as did they immigrate LEGALLY. Nothing is wrong with Mexicans, Mexican-Americans or anybody else but if they come and are legal and obey laws coming and staying they're fine.
People would want to learn french because its the language of love, such a romantic one. So yeah, Americans probably would be more accepting of the french language just because it comes from EUROPE. There excuse would be more then so and so percent of the American is French decent so french must be the second main language.
