A friend of mine is filing for her husband to become a resident and she seem to think that the reason he isn't getting through is because she owes IRS. Does anyone know if the irs and immigration are connected like that?
Answer:
It is called the government. It is all connected.
she needs to write her concerns to the embassy where he is from
The IRS can file a lien if you don't pay taxes, and anyone running a background check would find it. Also, immigration is concerned with making sure you can pay both your bills and the bills of the person you are sponsoring. If you don't pay taxes it is definitely a count against you.
