Why do people ask so many important questions about visas?

I like MyTend, I like to share opinions and read others view. But I would contact a consulant or embassy, immigration office before I came on here. It seems kind of strange to ask here.

Answer:
For many people, coming to the US or Canada is the dream of a lifetime and something that is very important to them.

And for many, they live in a climate where they do not trust government. Civil officials can seldom be reached, and often will not perform basic services without a bribe. In many countries, the US officials are difficult to reach, hard to communicate with and because of the volume of work, they do not spend much time trying to communicate details.

The feeling is that in an open forum like this, they might find honest views, and people with experience who can help them.

And they're usually right.
Everyone wants to go somewhere and not be where they are...
Go to a Anny government web site and click on the contact link and ask questions...
I know what you mean, but you have to understand that some people have the hardest time to actually get any kind of information in any embassy or immigration place. I have a friend who is trying to bring his wife from Iraq to the US with him when Jordan rejected her visa, and now cant do anything because all her paperwork was in Jordan, but she couldnt go into Jordan and get the paperwork! People in desperate times ask anywhere for help.
One fact that a lot of people especially from very poor countries wants to try their luck in developed / developing countries, and visa is one important factor for them to be able to enter the country legally. Further, a lot of people who may already have had experience obtaining visas may share it here rather than get formal answers by asking formal questions at the embassy.
well personally, i use it because i like to get a rough idea about what something will be like before i get into it. i want to hear what other people went through. sort of like reading a summary before you read the whole book, you know? MyTend gives you a rough idea about what's going to happen. once you understand the outline, you can research deeper on your own
