"Patriots", if you were born outside of the US, would you be patriotic to the nation where you were born?
Answer:
I was born in México. I live in México. I work in México. I love México.
Even I respect the USA and I think is a great country, I am a Mexican Patriot.
I do not want to live in USA, even I could do it legally, because my wife is an american citizen.
Remember, most of the mexicans are in México, have a job here, live here, and don't want to cross the border.
And yes, most of us can give our lifes for our country.
I would try and get here by any LEGAL means possible.
I'm pretty much a girl scout. I would do it legally like my grandparents did.
yes why wouldnt i be?
I'd swear allegiance to the country where I live.
If you were born somewhere, you have cultural roots. When you are in new surroundings where everything is very different, at first it's a cultural shock and you feel uncomfortable. That's like asking people if they would give up everything they were taught to believe because someone else tells you to. It doesn't work that way.
It takes time to adjust but humans are adaptable creatures.
In America itself, there are states where you go and see the majority have totally different values than the state you grew up in.
If I went to another country, I would probably get home sick and keep my traditions alive but at the same time I wouldn't disrespect others traditions and hope they can respect me for my differences and I could respect them for their differences.
I would learn their language but once again, that takes time. You can't just learn a new language over night and if you have alot of people frowning at you for where you came from, how would that make you feel? Would you find it more difficult to adapt? Would you have problems finding someone as an adult learning a new language to help you?
I was born out of the USA because my father was in the Army, and I've been to a lot of different countries, but America is the best thing going. I wouldn't want to permently live anywhere else. One of the biggest issues is that people in American don't realize how great we have it. I guess its the human nature of people to not be pleased with what they have in their lives. I recommend everyone visit another country for at least a month and then they'll see how great the US is. I love my heritage but I'm always American first!
Why do you think "everyone" wants to go to the US ? Only those from Third World Countries are doing that and it shows in the decay of your social structure ! We have some immigration issues in Australia mainly with people not dispersing once they arrive and congregating in select areas. Still I would keel over if I had to move from Australia to the US, great geography but must be a horrible place to live !
i believe in being patriotic to your home country!!
