So..Now you can pay for food in pesos??
Answer:
There are lots of stores in the Northern States that take Canadian currency.
Why not? Money is money. It's not like the dollar is in peril.
There are? Where? If it´s true, I don´t agree with it. The national currency is the dollar, not the peso.
Any stupid company can put in any stupid policy they want. Free market. People who are outraged by the policy are free to boycott and protest and take their money elsewhere.
As cheap and pathetic as pesos are, without some U.S. support, anyone paying for anything in pesos will first need to buy wheel barrows so they can haul that cheap trash to the store with them. I, for one, would not accept pesos in payment for anything, anymore than I'd accept the old wooden nickel. God Bless you.
Who really cares. Money is money. I mean I hate when people make a big deal out of it.
Before you get yourself in a twist, ask yourself why.
Is it because it is the peso? Because it is Mexican?
Now think about this...
In Honolulu you can pay almost everywhere with the Japanese yen. There are many signs in Japanese...many businesses with only Japanese signs. This has been the case for over a decade.
Why hasn't this been an issue?
EDIT: Wasn't attacking the questioner...just a general question for all. Why is the Mexican language, and people always the issue when there are already many instances of foreign influence in dialy American life. It just depends on where you live.
Well, first of all you have to have pesos. Then you go to the place where they accept them as payment. Easy, don't you think?
The good thing is they really don't care what you think. They're doing it and it's fine by me. It doesn't benefit or affect me in any way, so, more power to them!
You're the one that asked the question. Stupid is what stupid does.
This isn't legal. There's no way this is within the boundaries of the law. I would have to see some lnks to back up your statement. But no, this isn't legal.
So basically what you are telling me is that we have the right to force the dollar into other countries like El Salvador where the new official currency is now the U.S. Dollar, but other countries are strictly forbidden to introduce their currency into ours.... Sounds a little UNFAIR to me.
Pesos are worth just as little here as they are in Mexico. It doesn't make sense to argue over currency as it is possible to go to a bank and have it turned into legitimate US dollars.
YOu really shouldnt be posting questions on here if you arent mature enough to deal with the fact that poster are going to disagree with you sometimes.
But to answer your question, while I find this practice kind of odd, I dont see it to be any different than being able to pay in American currency in Mexico, which you can.
to mark-
in several parts of Mexico they accept US dollars why? not accept pesos here money is money and no is not illegal.
As of today, a Dallas-based chain of pizza restaurants will accept both US dollars and Mexican pesos as payment. The trial program will last through February at "Pizza Patron" locations in five states. ...I had to correct the name of the place.
I think its a little strange because you cant pay any other except Canadian (close to the border only)
There is a reason we have one currency, its because of its value
Would I want to see this go nation wide ...NO .I would not.The peso requires too big a hand bag to carry any real amount of money........I still prefer the American dollar and my credit cards...
This is still the USA and our money is still the dollar.
All banks will exchange money for you ,but not all merchants in all states will accept any money but American money.
Well sometimes you come from other country with your own money and we can't spend it here cuz money is different. I think we must me able to pay with any money in the world.
It is only fair for those states bordering on Mexico as it is fair for those states that border Canad to accept Canadian currency. In most stores in Mexico. you can pay with US dollars, but you lose money on the exchange rate if you do. Probably, those store accepting pesos are also accepting them at an even lower rate than they are woth (which isn't very much, as the rate flutuates from $10. 25 pesos to a dollar to $11.47).
It's just another way for the stores (restaurants in this case) to make another buck!
