I know several construction workers, who would normally be working 50-60 hour weeks at this time of year, at $15 to $20 an hour, who are now not working at all or had to take jobs paying much less ($8) an hour. You guessed it, there has been an influx of spanish-only speaking people in the area this spring! So yes, they are taking jobs and they are not just non-skilled jobs either. Do you think those houses and other buildings that they are working on going to cost the buyer a lot less?
not unless you work in the fields, but they ALWAYS have positions available there
NO but I do know that if I wanted or needed to paint or roof or do some other skilled or semi skilled labor I would be up against competition I did not have when I worked in those trades..I have friends who do not want to hire anyone they suspect is not a citizen...but guess who shows up to answer ads.

My 3 brothers are in the construction field and I have seen their wages stagnate and depending on the job sometimes it's even less.

I am a college graduate with a computer degree.
I was a computer engineer with the phone company until they took my job over to India.
It's not just Illegals taking our jobs. It is the RAG heads too.
Thanks to Bill Clinton making it easier for our companies to take our high paying jobs overseas and pay workers there less than 1/2 of what we make over here in the states with our college degrees.
Once your job goes you have to take something for 1/2 what you once made because all the good jobs are few and far between
