the main reason is ignorance, unfurtunately this is caused by the media, and just the way of life. You can't blame the U.S. for being powerful, and that being the main reason why the other countries are not doing well, if that was the only reason, China would have the same inmigration problem. When you work full time, and are inmersed in your own little world, get home, and watch the news, you'll realize why there's so much ignorace. As long as you see news as trivial and dumb as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are the main topics, then people will keep being ignorant about the rest of the world. Also, the US is just so big it's like a continent by itself, and hard to remember that there's more out there. One thing that alot of peole forget is that everybody's ancesters (except native americans ;) ) in the U.S. were inmigrant, trying to get a better life, the selft-rightous do not want that opportunity for the new inmigrants, then again caused by ignorance. Unfurtunately there is no comprehensive inmigration law, and that forces many people from other countries to stay illegaly. What happened on 9/11 caused many changes, making even harder for inmigrants who get here legally, and the only change has been the border security (Al-queda terrorists walk here from mexico, riiiiight). Ignorance is the cause, but doesn't justify it.

Yes, you are right... another thing that people in the US tend to forget is, EVERYBODY THAT IS HERE NOW EITHER IMMIGRATED HERE OR HAD AN ANCESTOR IMMIGRATE HERE... so, we're all technically immigrants one way or another...

I am not against immigration - I am against illegal immigration. And I do not believe that it is the fault of the US making things bad in other countries that makes people come here illegally. That is a "Blame America First" mentality, and it is not something I agree with.
let's take mexico for example. this country has dished out billions to the mexican government to create jobs and minimize the povery levels there so hispanics will have a reason to stay there. But the government has not used this money effectively. Not to mention all the money illegals send back home to their families untaxed. Where's this money going? I understand people aren't born as fortunate as we are in America. But that gives them no right to cut in line to be here. there are plenty of people waiting in line with the same backgrounds as people here illegally. the only difference is, the people in line know it is a privilege to be an American citizen. Not a right.

I agree with you completely. People against immigration tend to forget that this country took away almost half of Mexico's land and forced all their citizens to one day pick up their lives and move across the "BORDER". This country also loves to find land with rich natural resources and exploit the hell out of those people. I am sorry i love my country and the fact that i have the freedom to say what i believe and what i believe is that the US is a huge world-wide money hungry powersucking bully.
Maybe if we talk real slow, you might get it. Can you say "i l l e g a l" /there that wasn't so hard was it? You see, not many people are against legal immigration. The majority of us are legal immigrants, or our grandparents were. Why do the Mexicans think they are more privileged than any other person who wants to come here. And as far as Mexico being some poor third world place, it is the richest Latin-American country in the world. It is up to the Mexican people to stay home and fix their own country.
I don't think people realize it is so hard to come to the US that's why people just come illegally. If the US would make it easier for people to come legally there wouldn't be as many problems. People think you can just sign a paper to come here. It takes years to come here. Also takes a lot of money. Just to come visit the US is a difficult process.

First of all, if what you say IS TRUE and I don't admit that it is, the people who are keeping others down are not your average, take a loss at the hand of illegals, US citizens.

Several things are going on currently. Because the world has too many people, problem encouraged by the fat and wealthy, there is less for most of them. The pie is getting pretty skinny. There are hungry, starved misused people in say, Mexico. Why? Because the wealthy of the world have lined their pockets and done all they can to encourage them to me the unquestioned controlers of Mexico. They need people at the top to lie, cheat and steal for them.
So don't blame all of America. What has been done to the rest of the world ...is now being done to US. We need to stop it or these richy folks are gonna make major losers out of middle America.

Most of the LEGAL immigration to America is in a controlled manner, with people who have the means to contribute to the American society as a whole.
All ILLEGAL immigration is totally out of control of any type, except for deportation upon capture, & that is usually for a crime committed after the crime of criminally trespassing on American soil. The majority of illegal immigrants are too poor to support themselves in their home nation, much less in America, therefore they must depend upon the social programs that are in place for the working poor of America. This causes an undue and unnecessary drain upon the limited rescources available to America's poor. Has it ever occured to you that some of us who are against ILLEGAL immigration actually know what we speak of? Do you think we just rant and rave for no reason? We have done our research, we have checked our FACTS, we know what we speak of, unlike some who defend the criminal acts of others for emotional reasons,ie, related to them, in love with them, pregnant by them, etc, etc, ad naseaum.

You must have mistaken hate for ILLEGAL immigration to legal immigration. We dont hate legal immigration, we actually like immigrants.
Crossing the border is a violation of the law. Its the same as stealing. We hate stealing. Stealing what? The chances that legal immigrants have.
So what if the rest of the world is poor? That doesnt mean that we have to baby sit everyone on earth and let them enter here as they want. What will happen to this country if anybody can just march over here and expect to be accepted. We need some kind of control. If we dont control the rate of immigration, it will destroy this country's economy and we will end up like those countries we are trying to help.
Another thing is that even if we open the country to everyone, that wont solve their country's problem of poverty.
Lets just say that we accept 1 million immigrants a year.. so we take 1 million from a country and help them improve their lives. In that same year, they will add 8 million to their population, negating the 1 million that we have just taken out.
We do not hate immigration, we like immigration. We just want to control the rate and the quality of immigrants that enter the country. Its for the country's sake. We dont want to end up like those country that we are trying to help.
You judge us maybe because most of the illegal immigrants are your people. But you have to understand the facts and study the effects of mass immigration. There's just not enough room for everybody.

There are no set borders in the time Europeans came to this land. There are no treaties and no set territories.. so its a free for all.
Today, we have boundaries... thats the main difference why we emphasize on legality, we have no borders then so you couldn't say that it was illegal. There was no international laws set.
Now, can we invade perhaps, other country with the same history? Can we say that, oh, we can walk into your country and you have to accept us because your ancestors came here "illegaly". thats dumb. You cant use that reasoning. Plus, its a matter of economy. Americans worked hard for their economy.. its not the land that we're occupying.. its the economy that we established.. If you're saying that we came to this land ILLEGALY,, then we'll give you a land but we wont make it part of the u.s... without our economy, is that land the same?
We are not restricting illegal immigrants because of the LAND, that you say we occupied illegaly in the past.. its our economy that we're protecting and the quality of people that will make up that american economy.
