Is Georgia right to jail illegals for ID theft?

I think so, what a great idea. The high court found that Nohe Gomes Hernandez ``misappropriated the Social Security number of Jason Smith,'' and that he ``then used this misappropriated number to obtain a Social Security card and a California driver's license in Smith's name'' so he could get a job at a northeast Georgia poultry plant.

Hernandez was sentenced in April to two years in prison after a jury found him guilty of violating the ID theft law. Authorities learned about the case when the real Jason Smith, from Danielsville, Ga., applied for a $600 tax refund, but the Internal Revenue Service said he owed $12,000 in back taxes.

But illegal supporters will tell us how they only want to work and don't hurt us. In a pig's eye.

Answer:
id theft IS a crime
Yes.

And they should jail illegal aliens for being illegal aliens. If you merely deport them, that's like saying "See you tomorrow!"
Anyone that swipes anothers ID should be jailed...add an illegal and you have two good reasons to jail him....and get rid of them
I think anyone, illegal or not should be jailed for ID theft.
Agree with above, being an illegal is a crime.
ID theft is a separate crime
I hope if the illegal actually "gained" wealth / property ect. from the use of a stolen ID, that common law and Admiralty law dictates the seizure of said property and surrendered to the real person. THAT would be a great test case and if successful the end of ID theft by illegals.
Agreed!! Plus he should be given a swift kick in his "taco bells"
Georgia and every other state should jail and deport every illegal alien whether or not they have stolen an ID or anything else. Just being here is illegal and they need to be removed. All of them. The hard working honest ones. (How can you be honest and living in a country illegally?)
Of course they are right. I only wish the sentence for identity theft was longer. It will probably take Jason Smith longer than that to get his credit and everything straightened out.
They stole identifications from citizens of this country. I wouldn't care if they were citizens. Stealing is against the law. Of course they should be punished for it.
you can jail them then deport them, but it doesn't matter. I have a family member that works at the local jail and they just deported the same guy for the 3rd time with a third name and ssn..........as he walked out with immigration this time he turned to the local sherriff and said "see ya in 6 months!!!"

They will just come back and get someone else's ssn and make their life hell.
Just like the justice the movie 'Deliverance' served about the South-LOL!
if you come steal my id your gonna go to jail for 5 -10 years maybe more if your an illegal you will get a tap on ur hand and a free trip home and when you swim back here the next day the national guards men cant even stop you what a country no wonder they want to come here we give them more rights than us
Of course they should. However now he is just getting a free ride in prison.
