How do Christian republicans feel about immigration?
Leviticus 19:33
And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
Exodus 22:21 "You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 24:17 "You shall not pervert the justice due an alien or an orphan, nor take a widow's garment in pledge.
Deuteronomy 24:18 "But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and that the LORD your God redeemed you from there; therefore I am commanding you to do this thing
Answer:
Very nice, you can copy Bible verses. And you seem to be unable to distinguish between legal and illegal immigration.
But they have no bearing on illegal immigration. Fair rules for legal immigration have been established, and illegal immigrants are breaking those laws. They get false IDs (Thou shalt not bear false witness), they want the good life Americans have (Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's possessions).
Since we do not vex strangers, or oppress them, or pervert justice due them, we are not breaking any of the Lord's commands to us, even though the illegals are breaking at least 2 of the 10 Commandments.
im not a christian or a republican, but i dont want anymore trash in my country. and let's face it, all illegals are trash.
I was never a slave in Egypt, and all illegals should be deported. There ya go.
I think they have made it pretty damn clear how they fell hoss.
They only quote the Bible when it benefits them. They would never quote the Bible if it contradicts their beliefs. Like most people they won't let you change their mind.
there is nothing wrong with immigration. It is the illegal invasion is what i have a problem with
Nice quotes. As a republican christian I have no problem at all with immigration if it is done legally. I only have problems with illegal immigration. If someone wants to come to America for a better life I can not blame them for that want but the bottom line is there are rules and regulations that need to be followed.
What does the Old Testament say should be done with people who break the law?
that's all Old testiment, Go with James 12:16 Send the hexicans home whenst they come
Oh man, thank god I'm a agnostic Republican! Who cares what Jesus would do, KICK OUT THE ILLEGALS NOW!
Shut down the boarder, shut down welfare and put poor legal citizens to work at the jobs ILLEGALS had
Charity begins at home in Mexico
These questions should be asked to the Christian in Mexico
send all illegals back to their country.
Just like every other liberal I know. You guys are not unique at all. So you're trying to mock Christianity. Why are you so offended by Christians? My answer to you is that it is easy for liberals to pluck single verses from the Bible. Jesus said "Render unto Ceasar what is his, and render unto God what is his". This means you abide by the law of the land unless it contradicts what God commands. If a hungry ILLEGAL family came to my house, I would feed them and care for them until the authorities arrived to take them away.
Every so often they turn on us. Pretending they did not steal half the country from Mexico. The truth is that the US is a occupying force in the North of Mexico. As they are occupying Colombia and Mexico and starving our brethren in CUba.
If there was one Christian in this coutnry, he or she would have raised an outcry over all of these sins. Instead, a country made up of immigrants turns against the oldest residents of the land (the Mexica) and call them illegals.
Not only are there no Christians in the US, there are no rational people.
Please don't mix religion with law.
In all fairness, what would God think about people who expected everything to be handed to them, people who wanted everything without earning it?
There are also Qualifications given (near those quotes) that the immigrant or newcomer should observe *all* of your rules, laws, and respect your traditions. *ILLEGAL* immigrants are not doing any of this. (okay, so maybe they are respecting our traditions, but their very being here without the required legal processes makes them already in violation of what they must do to gain our respect. You cant benefit from out country if you wont respect its laws)
Throughout Leviticus and Deuteronomy, the Lord commands his chosen people to secure their BORDERS of the promised land.
God also commanded them not to covet their neighbors and to obey the law of the land except where it directly contradicts God's own law.
Nice try. Keep reading ...
EDIT: P.S. God helps those who help themselves ... breaking laws is not helping yourself.
EDIT: You said "You shall not pervert the justice due an alien ..."
I don't intend to. Illegal aliens are due the justice of deportation, according to the laws of the land.
To answer your question, I'm not one so I won't pretend to know how they "feel." I know they believe the Old Testament has been fulfilled by the birth of Jesus. I would guess that means all your quotes are moot.
God bless you and good luck, I hope this helped.
There is only one type of Christian. There are others that call themselves Christians. I sometimes wonder for who's benefit.
Christian Republicans are willing to respect immigration as a law because of the money it brings into the coffers. As far as the bible quotes go they will throw all sense of humanity out of the picture in search of the almighty dollar. First and foremost the only people making business out of illegal aliens are those that hire them (specifically those that abuse ART I SEC VIII and don't pay taxes for their labor. In a way forced if you see that they set a wage ultimatum then reap the rewards)
For Bush to want to pass this bill is a Democrat thing. As long as aliens pay a fee, go through the regular process for immigration, then began to pay for taxes they probably will never realize in the form of benefits (seen as how this country is rearing itself for an extended social security insolvency issue) then all Christian Republicans will be happy and content to have done their religious duty to God(dollar) and Country. Don't kid yourself the forefathers of this country did not give two cents about the way in which Native Indians were tricked, bashed to death out of their proper land. What you have to see is that this war of terror has left a huge debt to be payed in whatever means possible. If anything the huge outrage that should of made immigration look like a meaningless argument was Enron.
I'm not Christian but I admire Christ and I believe in the Golden Rule. I'm not Republican, but I used to admire Republicans back in the Reagan days.
Judge not that ye be not judged. All these Christians are quick to condemn immigrants for BREAKING the law, but they evade their own moral responsibility for MAKING laws that violate the Golden Rule.
A Mexican without relatives in the US must wait at least 15 years for legal entry, living in grinding poverty in the meantime. He is doomed to this "alien" status at birth. Would you want to be treated that way? Is not current immigration law a violation of the Golden Rule?
Well, for the USA, I believe they should do it the normal way - apply for it.
In the USA, we believe in separation of "sacred" (religious) and "secular" (lawful) because not everyone's "sacred" can be interpreted the same way. The lawful way gets reviewed every once in awhile and re-voted on to decide if that is still the way we want things to be.
