I believe you can use the receipt for the application for the new SSN with DMV, along with your birth certificate and one other proof of identification, which means a picture, date of birth, and your signature.

You have 10 days to do a driving test? You should be able to drive on your EU licence. I was able to drive on my EU driving license for one full year before having to take a test here in the States. If you have a valid visa to work here then you will get a SSN if you are a dependent then you need a TID number.

If not, don't bother applying. Illegals can not get a DL in California, in spite of the efforts of a socialist congressperson (Gil Cedejo).
Are you sure? I thought it was 30 days. You can't, as far as I know. Even if you HAVE your SS they run it while you stand there and make sure the data checks out.
