Money sent to mexico?
Answer:
U.S. spending on military and police aid to Mexico has more than tripled in the past five years to $57.8 million with the hope it will help protect America's southern flank. But the funding also marks a dramatic shift in the relationship between the two countries, as Mexico, long wary of accepting military and police aid from its northern neighbor, becomes the third-biggest recipient in Latin America behind Colombia and Peru. it's alot. i lived in Colorado for a few years and there were plenty of immigrants living there due to it being a tourist town. i knew of at least 3 that were sending money back home all the time. 2 of them owned multiple homes in Mexico! it's hard to say exactly or even a ball-park... but, i'd say a solid majority of them do send money back to Mexico.
$23 billion last year
Well, it can't be too much since the average "Mexican" laborer make minimum wage or less. Once you figure the cost of living in the US for the person , it doesn't leave too much extra to send.
Billions. If I'm not mistaken it's in the top 3 "resources" for Mexico. Gas, drugs, and remittances from here.
Tens of billions per year, Mexico's single largest source of foreign funds, after oil.
I have seen that in so many newspaper accounts that I take it as fact.
The last time i saw any estimate, it was 12 BILLION to Mexico. That's more money than Mexico makes from oil, which is their #1 export.
I think America should tax those wire transfers at 30 cents on the dollar. After all, our government thinks nothing of taxing its citizens at that rate.
