The AFL-CIO, at its annual convention, about 5 years ago endorsed full amnesty and US citizenship for all illegal aliens. If the steelworkers are a part of the AFL-CIO then congratulations, you know where part of your union dues are going... to lobby for amnesty.
It depends on the Union. Some are looking at future higher numbers of more desperate poorer workers, and are drooling at the concept. AFL-CIO is in favor of legalization but against a guest worker program to further dilute the bargaining power of individual, existing workers. Particular locals are across the board, but typically strong on enforcement because that is what thier members want.
As to steelworkers per se, I don't know.
