Immigration?

what do you think of the immigration laws in your country?
truthfully? x

Answer:
The laws in th e UK have been changed so many times thanks to tabloid pressures that it's become a complete mess. I describe the system as a mix of cruelty and incompetence. I could give any number of examples of people's lives being messed up by a system that doesn't work. Because it's such a mess, some people get away with exploiting things, and then the public are told about them and turn against all immigrants, even though most people are not racists.

The answer in my opinion is a fresh start. Amnesty for those that have been here a while, a more transparent system for dealing with newcomers (actually this is already happening), and a bit more understanding and thought about what's happening.

Yes, millions of people have come to Britain in recent years, but millions of Brits have also moved abroad. Many of the newcomers will eventually return to their countries, just like lots of the Brits. The world has changed, and won't stop changing just because some people don't like it. The countries that manage change best will have the best future. Even though the government has made such a mess of things, actually UK is coping pretty well due to the open attitudes of most people here (not relected in MyTend.com !)
A little lax where allowing foreign nationals from the E.U. especially Poland, Lithuania, Portugal and Latvia are concerned.
i think they are crap!!! there needs to be more rules for ppl that are coming into the country to live. we need to be more like australia where you either have to pay or need a trade to live in the country, you need to have somethink to offer the country and they a yearly limit of who can come in to the country and here its a free for all. and stuff us britains
They need to be enforced.
Somebody shut the door on the border...the screen door that is.

The immigration laws are fine but need to be enforced.
In The United States, yes
They are far to lax,the UK should have Australia's immigration laws ,
First of all the laws we have need to be followed and enforced. Second, if someone immigrates to your country they need to be a little bit willing to adapt to your society, not ask your society adapt to them. Case in point is the recent protests here in The U.S. where people of a hispanic ancestry are marching along protesting our immigration laws waving the flag of Mexico. Not appropriate I say. If you want to immigrate to a country you need to respect the laws and sovereignty of that country, no matter what country it is.
no very much to tell the truth, they need to be tightened up or at least followed.
If these people have something to offer they should be allowed to live where they like but if they are just arriving for the handouts it should be stopped.
Some scroats think that they can scrounge of the rest of us and then when we complain about it they blow us up with home made bombs.
The UK has just changed into an Islamic African Eastern European conglomerate with not one word of consultation with the real UK people

And worse, some UK people actually encourage this.

Amazing phenomena abound, for example foreign immigrants usually Indian and some Muslim people I have noticed , call themselves "British "in comical fashion . Others question if there even such a thing as British nationality while at the same time adopting the label "British " for themselves.

Mass immigration is the single biggest threat in UK history to the ancient UK my homeland, it should be reversed while we still can.
too easy to get in...
should be like austrailla...
Typically British people think that our immigration laws are too weak and that we should not let foreigners in, especially darker skinned ones.

However, British people also believe that we have the right to move to any country we want and live there.

Doublethink, anyone?

EDIT: Read jimquk's contribution below for a reasonable and sensible approach to the immigration issue.
Yes, immigration should be controlled.
No, rounding foreign looking people up and sticking them on a boat isn't the answer.
I agree with most of you about the laws in the U.S. They need to be enforced. The new immigration law that congress is trying to shove down our throats if passed will ruin this country. Because we have let our government drag it's feet on this problem for so long we are looking at a huge problem now. I just don't think amnesty is the answer which is what this bill is. Some say it isn't but you can put lip stick on a pig and it's still a pig. What blows my mind is we have become so politically correct with our"progressive" thinking that this bill is almost an apology for calling sneaking into our country illegally a crime. If put into law around 20 million illegals will become legal. Doesn't matter if they become citizens or not once legal they will be granted all the rights to our social programs. Not that they don't already use them. And our so called leaders say this time we will be tough on them. Yeah I won't hold my breath on that one. The real kicker is that the illegals are all ready protesting that this new law is to harsh. I don't see many of them paying 5 grand to get what they all ready have. I and many thousands have been bombarding the white house and our reps protesting this new law. If they still pass it and ignore the majority of American citizens then folks we have an even more serious problem on our hands. Will Americans rise up in a (legal way) to change our corrupt government? I sure hope so. I hope this time enough will be enough.
There aren't any, it's open house here
The laws are fine they just need to be enforced.
US needs to enforce the current laws. Their is a better chance of an illegal getting speeding ticket than getting deported.
In England, they stink, everything is done to aid the immigrant, illegal or not.The ordinary people are taxed up to the hilt to help in the support of these parasites!
Ours are out dated out moded & the sooner they are revised the better.U.K.
WHAT IMMIGRATION LAWS???
ANy immigrations laws the UK has are so useless that when a case goes to court 99 times out of a hundred the judge goes against them.
Home Office figures revealed that since NEW LABOUR they`ve lost 500.000 illegals.

So I ask again `WHAT IMMIGRATION LAWS ???`
I live in Italy and the immigration system here is a joke. Too little control is exerted over illegal aliens (most of whom are from Northern Africa and Eastern Europe). As a result, we're are faced with a crime wave that is spiraling out of control. I look up to legal immigrants, who do jobs that we, wealthy spoiled Italians, won't. However, I would deport illegals by force, and would shoot those who try to cross our borders. That would be a deterrent, although a cruel one. We're being too tolerant and it's hurting us.
