No. Toys-R-Us should have taken it to court. They would have won because of the stipulations of the contest. Besides, maybe the INS would have actually done its job and deported these illegals before the trial.

The only legal resident in that case was the baby being born. So Toys-R-Us in fact did have to pay the parents who are responsible for the childs estate.
America was created with open doors. Unfortunately many want the doors to remain open and many want them closed. I agree that as citizens we shouldn't have to pay for others who aren't rightfully here. However, those who go through the "process" and earn citizenship. Enjoy every thing America can offer and be the best they may not have had the chance to be anywhere else.

This couple very wisely landed in America in time to meet the stated requirements of the contest. After the IRS takes the money and they are separated from their child when they are returned to a prison in their native country ( one that we would not in our most horrible nightmare dare to think abou)t, we can begin to appreciate the effort they made to better their childs chances to be educated, successful and most hopefully, happy to choose their mate and have as many children they may want.
I did not know this but now I am really mad. So many American citizens you know the ones who pay taxes could have benefited from the money. Chinese own us and they have been laughing all the way to the bank and now this. What a slap in the face of legal immigration.
This sort of thing is corporate America, spitting in the faces of middle class America. They do these stupid gift things to suck people in. Who do they want to suck in but the new guys on the block. In this case, the meaner, uglier out of sorts kind folks and the reason for that is that is who they are targeting. All of America is targeting illegals currentl. Job and trainee companies, furntiure, cars it' goes on. Watch around you and you will see mostly Hispanic people used in the commercials to attract the attention of those people. There are roughly 30% legal hispanics in the US currently, depending on area. Why would the large corporations focus on these folks mostly? They want their biz and their bread. They want to emply them and to sell to them. Biz is about making money ...not about being partriotic and ...saving America.
WE are facing as middle class people in the USA ...a war against our best interest by the large corporations. They want buyers and cheap labor. All they do tries to get them there. The fact that this will make Americans work for less, compete more, pay more taxes etc etc. is GOOD for the large corporation ...and bad for the rest of us. THis is why this award was given.
Write em' a letter and tell em' your are mad as Hell and you aren't going to take it anymore!

first of all the baby as much as you might dislike it, is an American citizen.(anybody born in the us is a citizen, so would you rather pay for the foster care this kid would need if the parents were sent back) So yes the baby had a right to the toy r us money. second you are making a lot of assumption,how do you know "we" paid for the birth,education ect.(maybe they used the 25,000.00 non tax payers money for the birth) and how much do you know about your family tree?? how far back do you have to go to find your first relative who is not a legal citizen.
I know I have to go back several generations but it is there. America is made up of people from all around the world and I personally would have it no other way!

The day they stop immigration our feeble debt ridden economy will show its true numbers . Then you will know the truth . The illegals are padding the economic figures. See if you can get by without dry cleaning and trucked in veggies and the restaurant industry! Otherwise your just another person too lazy to cook their own food, plant a garden or sew clothes. I don't think the child should have gotten it..even if the child is a US citizen.. it just goes to show u how America got screwed again. There were plenty of American babies born who really needed that money (those whose parents actually paid into the system).. I doubt these people even knew what Toys R Us was and I can almost bet, they never spent any money in there. They should have immediately deported their butts back to China and the kid too..

If the contest said that "entrants had to be legal residents" who is the "entrant?" The baby or its parents? If the entrant is the baby, then the kid is in fact a "legal resident" and that's all she wrote, he wins. If on the other hand, the parents are the "entrants," why then no way are they entitled to win and caving in was a serious lapse committed against the social order by Toys R Us. Period.
Its either one or the other and all the emotional hysteria is irrelevant to the extreme. It should be resolved according to the rulers of the contest, ONLY! Not according to rants and raves about racism, illegal immigration, colonialism, unmarried status, social fascist "political correctness," immigration laws or any other "red herring!"
(One of the worst aspects of your country is that you Americans hate to "play by the rules," most of the answers here even ignore the fact that this contest had rules. One idiot even writes that the winners should not be given the prize, even if the rules were followed, just because that person doesn't like "illegals." Give the baby the award, according to the contest rules. Then deport the mother back to China. I wonder if the prize would have been worth deportation?
It was as wrong as something can be. And until they change their policy on rewarding people who are here illegally and don't play by the rules I will puchase my 3 year olds toys somewhere else.

It was very charitable for Toys R Us to give to all 3 babies...............but I believe the rule was parents were to be US residents...........not illegals!
