Why do Anti-Immigrant people take it as a victory of something that never happened?

Since the amnesty bill didn't pass through, we are back to square 1.

Someone please explain this:

If undocumented immigrants are so bad for society by supposedly not paying taxes, stealing other people's S.S. numbers, etc. then why are you anti-immigrant people so happy that the bill for this issues would be that would be resolved didnt go through?

Human injustices, being paid les than minimum wage, being attacked consistently by racist media organizations and even gov. officials (tancredo) is just not going to continue happening.

Answer:
They take it as a victory because they feel that they got their way. Some of the Congressmen(both Republican and Democrat, but primarily Republican)voted nay for a chance to keep their seats when re-election comes around, and because their constituents expected them to. netmorale_admin, this country was NOT founded on legal immigration like you claim it is. When this country was founded, it was founded on immigrants, period. Back then, people came here by ship from their country of origin and settled. It wasn't for until the 19th century that we had a system of immigration or even a process in place. To the person who said there is no supposedly, the hell there isn't! There is absolutely a supposedly when it came to claims by people like the lot of you here that illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, steal other people's Social Security numbers, etc. whether you like it or not; sure there are a few bad apples out there who have stolen Social Security numbers, but that DOESN'T apply to every person who enters this country illegally and you know it! Besides, there isn't any concrete evidence(what I mean by that is that you have to give me evidence from a source that isn't from a conservative-based group such as The Heritage Foundation or from a news outlet like the Fox Noise Channel)that undocumented immigrants don't pay taxes, once again, some may actually not pay taxes. However, that DOESN'T speak for the entire population of immigrants who are undocumented.

To the fool who gets off on the idea that the asker is from Mexico, Look the guy is hispanic, that doesn't mean that he's automatically Mexican. Nor has he said that he IS from Mexico or any other country. For all we know, he could be American, who are YOU to say that he's a foreigner? In that case, that little statement where you're b#tching about how you don't want to hear him mention human injustices in general as one of the things that is just not going to continue happening was totally wasted. If the asker wants to complain about it here, LET HIM. Who the hell are YOU to tell him that he can't complain about it here not to mention that you ordered him to complain about it to his own government, especially when once again, he hasn't mentioned he's from Mexico or any other country?
because they have no solution themselves...they just hate mexicans, plain and simple, most dont admit this but we all know its true. Its the xenophobic zealots trying to keep everything nice and white. Its funny when they all preach against it but they still use the cheaper services that these people provide.

Libby just got his personal amnesty...I dont see any of these people in flames about that
Because, the American people won't 'settle for'. We're not going to take the first thing that waves a magic wand and makes illegals into citizens. That doesn't not solve the problems we have. If we're doing such great "human injustices" to these "poor people", then maybe they should stay out for their own good.
First of all, they are NOT undocumented they are illegal. Let's get that straight. 2 We are not racists. We just want all the illegals to go home, now! And 3, the illegals didn't get their free pass. That's what we are happy about. Now it's time to start arresting and deporting illegals, now!
The reason I am anti-illegal immigration is because they have not come here legally. I do not want people who have so little respect for my country to be given special privileges ahead of those who come here legally. I do not want them here at all. The bill would have granted them amnesty and that is what I was totally against. If they were to come here legally the attacks against them would cease, they would have the legal protections we as Americans enjoy, they would be entitled to earn at least minimum wage. I wish I could say that the human injustices would stop but I cannot control how others treat people of color. The bill did not do enough to ensure that there would be no more illegals. Until the time we get control of our borders and can control the immigration of people into this country we cannot allow amnesty.
It is not taking anything to square one as you put it. It is more of a message that before any kind of reform to an alleged broken system happens; the government should enforce current laws and secure our borders. It should be tough to get any kind of benefit when you are from a foreign land, in which some came illegally to begin with.

Documented Legal immigrants came and followed the current immigration guidelines and paid more to do so.

It is a victory in that our very own congress listened to the people.

Happy 4th too, if you know about this great day for the USA.
For the last time..we are not anti-immigrant, we are anti ILLEGAL immigrant.
EXACTLY! They just happy to see minorities stay in the shadows that's all. Nothing changed. Still allowed to stay and work in the U.S. so I don't know why they didn't just pass the damn bill.
This bill would have rewarded these criminals for their crimes, if it would have passed we would have been at "square -100." Square 1 is much better than that.

And why do you pro-crime people never worry about the injustice being done to the people who are here LEGALLY?
We are happy because a crappy bill that rewarded criminals didn't pass and now we stand a chance of our laws being enforced. A few states are getting very strict on illegals, hopefully all states will catch on and the illegals will leave on their own.
I am by no means "anti-immigrant"! I am absolutely anti-illegal immigrant!

Our nations was founded upon LEGAL immigration. It is now being crippled partially by ILLEGAL immigration.

After the first amnesty (an that is just what it was!) illegal immigration exploded!

People wanting to immigrate to the U.S. now knoq that if they are not caught while crossing the border, they will probably never be caught and eventually, the U.S. will pass a bill that allows them to stay even though they got here illegaly.

In the future, do yourself a favor and make a distinction between legal immigrants (the real foundation of the U.S.) and illegal immigrants!
Enforce the laws on the books now. How many do you really think would have come forward to pay taxes and the $5000 and go home for 2 years? Very few if any. No rights for someone who enters illegally or overstays a visa. Lawbreakers should not be rewarded with citizenship and rights that legal immigrants had to work for. It has nothing to do with race its a matter of the law. Most people are not anti-immigrant they are anti illegal immigrant.
You question reflests far too much logic for those who are afflicted with such hate and racism to get a grasp on. The fact is, they LOVE the fact that undocumented imagrantys are in the country, it gives them a target for their hate
Because really this complacated, they can't really think so they call it a good thing that they have done nothing. This country was foudend on inmagrants, my great-grandfather and great-grandmother were, I do have some indan but thats beside the point, they need to make this country great again, and make it the melting pot not a country that turns away people with the desire to work hard and live the american dream. also I did have my SS# stolden I'm not sure by who yet, but I belive (unlike most people) that one person does not represent the whole race, so if it was a hispanic thats him (probably not a her becuse im a guy) not the race, it was probably a white guy becuse of my name but that dosen't mean all whites are bad eather.
Dude, I'd take a job picking fruit for $2 a day if I got enough welfare, foodstamps and FREE health care for me and 12 kids!

Stop thinking these dedicated hard working law breakers should have rights under the Constitution. THEY ARE NOT CITIZENS!
As it is, I work full time, have NO health insurance!

I was glad that it was voted down because of population impacts. There are already too many people in the country stressing infrastructure now and into the future.

The laws in place now are adequate. They just need to be enforced. Congress needs to reduce the total quota for immigration to manageable levels.

It's all about the numbers:
It's funny how these racist, right-wing "shock jocks" on radio and on t.v. are celebrating that this bill didn't pass. But what are they celebrating about?? There are still millions of illegals living here in the U.S. that are never going back. especially not now.

These anti-immigrants bigots just didn't want "Mexicans" getting any benefits since that's all they mentioned in their hate campaign, not the millions of illegal Asians, Arabs or Russians.no just "mexicans". Oh, and if this bill did pass these racist right-wingers couldn't keep up their hate talk on the radio against Mexicans.they have to look for a new scapegoat that will fight back with lawsuits, and since they are basically cowards, they don't want that.
Because politicians are now more aware than ever that the public is aware and is demanding action not new laws ( and bad ones at that )
This was just a start.
Is that the best you pro-illegals have is to call the anti-illegals racists?? Then explain to me why it is I find that those border agents who were wrongly convicted to be heroes instead of criminals?? (they happen to be Hispanic, hint hint) And explain to me why it is I happen to have several black people as good, close friends?? And explain to me why it is, when I run into my childhood friends(who were so Hispanic that their grandmother didn't speak English at all) who my entire family were close to, I give them BIG hugs and smiles and am sooooooo happy to see them again!(I moved out of my hometown). Or how is it I maintain a close relationship to my nieces (who are half Hispanic)?? Stop trying to pretend that you can just automatically ASSume that an anti-illegal (like myself) is a racist! Find a better argument, because that one is so old and worn out and so far from the truth! That is, unless you can explain to me how exactly you would consider me a racist with the examples I've given you. Didn't think so.
There's no supposedly about it. They are bad for society. They pay little or no taxes especially considering how many tax dollars are spent to give them free education, free health care, free food, free and discount housing. And what thanks do we get? Them marching in the streets for rights that they are not entitled to.

For the uneducated, this was not an amnesty. The rest of us knew the reality of it, though. The moment that bill passed, those people would have been here to stay. Yes, you heard me right. Without doing anyting but being here contrary to our laws, they would be granted immunity from being deported. That, sir, is amnesty. Then they would have the OPTION of studying our laws, learing English and paying "back taxes" (as if that could have been calculated.)

This bill would have been several steps in the wrong direction. That is why its defeat is seen as a victory.

We still have a long way to go. They do not belong here. They need to return to wherever they came from and file the proper paperwork and wait just like everyone else on the planet has to.

You want to talk human injustices? Tell them to your own government, not ours.

The only reason so many illegal aliens have been allowed to stay for so long is that employers use them as slaves and don't have to pay them minimum wage. If employers needed to pay illegals the same as citizens, they would hire citizens, hence illegals wouldn't be needed. Then what would you do? Stay in your own damn country or come legally, that's what!
Because a bad bill isn't better than no bill.

There were alot of faults with that bill beyond just blanket amnesty. They kept saying our last amnesty bill was unenforcable and if that's the case..this one would have been more impossible because none of those things were addressed to the extent they needed to be.

Besides...I thought this was to be about REFORM.not amnesty. There was basicly nothing about actual REFORM in this bill. Lets just keep all the illegals and grant tons more cheap labor immigrants a visa to work for less than a citizens wage.

Sometimes you have to look more at what it's NOT saying than what it is. Obviously it has to be air tight so there isn't any mis-understandings in the future.

There's been alot of bills that are rejected because there's little tid-bits added deep within the bill that have nothing to do with the bill. So don't jump on the band wagon thinking that just because people were happy it didn't pass that they have no desire for real reform. You can't just look at something and what it does for right now only. There's reprocussions to these laws. How will this pan out in the future etc.

I mean just for a second think there was amnesty and you all get on the bandwagon of getting a better education and you do..only to find there aren't any jobs because they have increased the other visas for the "cheap" labor that what you worked ahead for isn't there now.unless of course you want to do it for next to nothing and you're right back where you were.

I still don't get "human injustices" when you volunteered for it. Working at low wage jobs isn't a "human injustice". Doing crappy jobs isn't "human injustice". Not giving you a free ride to the top and everything you demand at the expense of other citizens isn't "human injustice". Not having all "special considerations" given to just your people isn't "human injustice". Not changing the nations language to suit just your people isn't "human injustice". Getting picked up and thrown in jail for breaking laws isn't "human injustice".
True. After the bill failed, I saw on YA some anti-illegals saying,
"now they can go back home" or "now we won't have 12 million illegals."

I said to myself, "yesterday, last week, last month, last year, nothing has been done about this issue, and these immigrants will continue living there lives like they always have been."

How can something that never happened (the bill) change the way things have been going all along?
This bill had issues, and their great redneck president can't get any support from his own political party anymore. Unfortunately nothing has happened. There is no change and now the racism has spread like wildfire. It still amazes me how the Christian Right Wing can have little to no compassion for human beings who are mostly God fearing, hard working, family people who just want the chance to work, live and survive. The whole matter disgusts me that this country enjoys creating a "slave" class no matter how much we claim to love democracy, and justice for all. Well not really all, just some, the privileged wealthy few.
