Ted Kennedy lied? No! Seriously, though, most people remember Simpson Mazolli, but did you know that Kennedy co-sponsored the very first immigration "reform" back in the 1965 too?
And as for the politically astute answerer who chimed in about this being "Bush's" plan, you need a Civics 101 course. The President cannot introduce bills into Congress. The current amnsety bill is sponsored by Kennedy and McCain. Bush may be a proponent, but Kennedy wrote the bill (OK, Kennedy's staffers wrote it while he was at the local tavern).
Ted Kennedy needs to sober up and hand count the 12 million immigrants he helped let in. Then he needs to explain to the American people why they must:
