A Texas Grocery Store Chain Announced They Will Take Both US Dollars and Mexican Pesos, Is This Right?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/...

Why not Euros or Japanese Yen?

Answer:
I suppose they can take whatever currency they want. They'll have to set up an exchange to get it changed to U.S. Dollars unless they are doing business in Mexico.

Why, when the rest of the world is teaching English as a mandatory language is the U.S. not requiring that everyone speak English -- not pandering to Spanish?
Because mexico is taking over that should not be right.
omg what is this country coming to
Man, Texas is in the border is just a matter of customer convenience is not a big deal, if you go to Mexico they accept dollars too.
This really is a decision for that business to make. As long as they don't mind the extra work converting the money, or they have enough business to make change back to the customer in pesos. Really not a big deal. However, if this is somehow supporting ILLEGAL immigrants...NOW you have an issue to get upset about.
Because not a whole lot of europeans or japanese shop there...

What's wrong with it? They're doing what any good business does, try to make it easy for their customers to spend their money at their store. Capitalism at its finest. And why in the world would you care?

You know, there are a few (not that many, but a few) stores in other countries that accept US dollars, mainly because they get a lot of American tourists. No different from this situation.
You folks who thing there's something wrong with this really need to lighten up...what's the problem?
They will have to exchange them that's there problem...!
yes its cool and they should also except these other monies also
Well if the american dollar is accepted ...
They can do what they want.....all they have to do is convert the Mexican money to American dollars....of course the value of the peso is so bad...I don't see alot of people using it.
So just what about this don't you like?

It's no skin off my nose.
Well, No matter what, its money first of all and Texas is close to Mexico. Just like Arizona, these states are loaded with Mexicans. I guess its just another service being offered to bring in more revenue.
Look at it this way. If you had a business in main but very close to the Canadian border, you might consider excepting Canadian money to help bring in more money and business.
Hope this helped you out with your answer.

* NOTE * to Wantme_co, You look hot keep up the good work :)
Quit crying if it was your store your greedy as$ would do the same thing!! In America it is all about the Dollar!
Big deal. All the time I was growing up in Oregon, we used Canadian money interchangeably with our own. And Oregon is as far from that border as those Texas businesses are from theirs. Good for them for providing thoughtful customer service.
They are trying to accommodate their customers. What do you care?
thats crazy isnt that against the law ?
First of all, it is a Pizza chain, in Dallas...Promotional gimmick!
Forgien countries banks exchange other countries money for their own...Only that countries money is universally accepted.
Michigan cities that border Canada to some extent accept their money, BUT...Only at the exchange rate.(Last time I saw this a Canadian quarter was worth .23 cents.
In other words add 8% to the cost...After tax.
