We are seriously thinking of moving to New Zealand, how easy is it to emigrate there. We are in our late 40's
Answer:
Ask the rich they seem to all migrated somewhere else-wonder why
There is a point-scoring system that determines whether they will accept you. Age, family ties, occupations and qualifications all score points.
As said above, NZ immigration system is based on "points" - you earn enough points, you get in. Try the website also mentioned above -
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/...
on the left hand side you'll see a link for "Skilled Migrant Category Points Indicator", press that and you'll be able to check your points
There are of course other categories - family, business/investor, etc. All explained very well on the website.
A couple of other good websites are -
http://www.workpermit.com/new_zealand/ne...
http://www.nukiwi.com/
Good Luck!
There are a number of ways to migrate to NZ. Unfortunately the NIS website is rather limited in its explantions of the finer points of migrating. It gives you the rules and policies, but dosn't explain the differences in interpretation that can be obtained by different approaches when lodging your applications. A further rpoblem is that professional advice will also vary in its accuracy or subtlety. Don't just really on the skills system (the opioints based system). There are other alternatives that will work when the points system dosn't. Depending on circumstances, if you know wat you are doing most people can migrate and be legally working in NZ in just a few weeks if they want. Seek good professional help. If they can' get you in working within 2 to 4 weeks, try someone else! because it can be done
