Why is the US building a wall on the Mexican border?

The problem is that Mexico does not pay for universal education for its poor people or health care for its neediest. Too many of them illegally come here to get education for their children and health services for their sick that takes away from the funding needed by our own people. We don't want to pay for 100% of their poor at the expense of our own children and needy, which would be the result of your suggestion. We love our children, too, and are watching their schools fail as they are swamped by those coming illegally.

Why not? Most Mexican citizens already live in the USA. Might as well annex Mexico and make it the 51st state.

"IF" the US really wanted Mexico, the Texas National Guard can take that country, but we don't want it. It would cost way too much to fix it, and the only ones who would even give us a fight would be the cartels. Mexico does not care who does what and who comes and goes, its what the cartels say. But no, we don't need it, its too far gone and its getting worst.

I'm afraid the USA wouldnt consider 'merging' the two countries, and truly America needs Mexican immigrants to migrate to their country; In California the neighboring state, there is a great demand for cheap labour, Mexican immigrants can be exploited and charged substantially lower wages than an American worker would cost. However its not all bad for the Mexicans as they still get paid a substantial amount more than they would in Mexico!! The benefits of Mexican immigrants moving over to America are far to great for the Americans to put up that much effort into stopping the immigrants from migrating across. Plus they can't be building a wall all the way across the border as it would have to be huge!!

the day that happens will be the same day i call my congressman to inquire about volunteering to become an illegal alien so i can get free health benefits, free college education and be registered as "in state" no matter what school i go to in the US and never have to pay taxes. Its no fair they are given financial leniency over a citizen and if they merge Mexico, it will be the American taxpayers footing the bill. I'll be damned if i pay for an illegals education and i cant even afford to send myself.

Guess it is possible to merge US and Mexico, but no one in America would want that!! The US already has enough problems and we don't need anymore!!
No, because just like Puerto Rico, the Mexicans only want to soak up all the benefits that they can from the US, without having any of the responsibility, like paying taxes.
Remember, even people from countries that use totally different alphabets (example: Japan) manage to learn English when they come here, but less intelligent immigrants cannot.
