You can't legally raise funds for a cause that is not considered and registered as not for profit. If you say that you are running a fund raiser to put money in your pocket, you'll find yourself in jail

Do you have children?If so call the welfare department and talk to a social worker and see if you can go apply for emergency assistance or just go down there and apply.You'll need to take birth certificates,proof of identity,social security cards,proof of residence such as a rental agreement and take a most recent pg&e bill. I think you should also bring your last w2 form if you worked at all last year.Be prepared to be there awhile it takes quite sometime filling out all the forms.I'm not sure about all you need to take so maybe you bettet call and ask.Or you can always call a church and ask for help.They'll be more than willing to help you or can direct you to someplace that can.I think a non-denomination church would be the best because they are Christian with no relegious traditions or beleifs.Yoy can look up churches in the phone book.
