Opt or H1 visa?

Hey everyone! I currently just finished my master degree. I'm getting my OPT next month (march).

A very respectable and large, fortune 500, company wants to hire me. I was wondering should I let them know about my OPT visa status and go through that, or should I just ask them if they want to get me a H1?

I do not want to do anything illegal of course. And I will let them know before they hire me, but I was just wondering what is the smartest way to go fourth on this issue.

Answer:
Tellimg them that you are on OPT and asking for H1 is equivivalent. So No difference. OPT is like convenience measure befiore H1. I would go on and ask about H1 and start paperwork.
the other answerer is kind of right too. Opt is not a visa type but a training program for graduate studies. Any company hiring you will need to sponsor you more likely through a H1B visa. Your college probably have an International affairs office. Check it out.
