How is it possible that you're trying to come up with a punishment for "illegals" caught in the US? Considering that you came from one! I mean really think about it, where did do you think that your ancestors came from?! Unless that your ancestors where Native Americans (Indians) than you don't belong here either! Because from what I recall Africans didn't come here legally, they came here as slaves, that were brought here through illegal immigrants that also came here from England. So basically none of us belong here so we should hate our ancestors and punish our self for invading someone elses country. I hate it when I hear people say, "I'm an "American" I belong here, you don't!" First of all we're all "Americans" because we're in the continent that's named, "North America" and to the south there's another continent named, "South America" So, don't go acting like the people that live un the US are the only "Americans" because it clearly says, United States OF America. So, don't get it twisted. Before you start trying to find a punishment for "illegals" find out where your "roots" are. Yeah, I'm sure that you claim that this is your country because you were born here, but if your ancestors hadn't come here illegally, you would've never have been born here.
Some people claim that "illegals" are here taking advantage of their rights like: child support, and the medical help. But, if they have children that were born here they (the children) have the right to all of that. Because they are US Citizens. And about the people that claim that they don't have a job because all of the immigrants are taking them they are so ignorant! If they are working and "taking" your jobs is because you're too lazy t o do it!!! If you look around I bearly see any US Citizens or people that are here legally doing any work out in the sun when it's hot, or any people out in the cold during the winter. What about all of those people that were working illegally out in California and got seek from the fertilizers that they were using. They were all immigrants because all the "Americans" were too good for that job, not one was dumb enough to be working like a slave out in the HOT sun, and to be getting paid a misery. I hope that one day they become tired of hearing all of you talk about how they're taking all of your jobs and let you have them. I'm sure that this country's finances would go straight down. I sure hope they do get tired of this one day and they they let you have what you want so badly.
Besides you don't know the reason that they've had to come to this country; a country that has so many nice people, but that also has so many people that are full of S*IT!!!
I wrote this with no intension to offend anyone. This is my opinion, but I'm sure that there are lots of people that will agree with me on this.
Put them in prison work camps and make them have to work for as many years as they have been here illegally. That should more than satisfy our cheap labor appetite.
Deportation is the ultimate solution but ONLY after we secure this nations borders.

what gives you the right to assume you should be able to punish someone for coming here to try and have a better life?? of course , everyone that has actually committed a crime should be punished to some degree: i am including all race's..but for any person of any race wanting more for their families, i see no crime has been committed. don't you want the best for you and your loved one's?? why shouldn't they??
Confiscate all their belongings to pay for deportation cost and then return them to the furthest point in Mexico.
Deportation. He/she and his illegal family should go back to their native country.
