Should we change the qualifications to get Welfare.?

I hate Generational Welfare punks. That's is families who have been on welfare for every generation since it came into being. Daughter moves out of government housing at 17 because she got pregnant at 14 so she can live across the street from her mother and get Mothers Welfare. Baby turns 14 and applies for Welfare so he can stay home all day and get high, watch T.V and sleep .Gets girlfriend pregnant at 14 so at 16 he has a place in Housing. No rent . WEeeeeeeeee! What a life ,huh ? No need for school or work. Just one big joy ride, often supplimented by selling drugs and prostitution. On and on. Happens every where. I should know. I live in Housing.
Welfare should have never been started. It's a vote buying scheme.

It isnt just the qualifications of getting on Aid, but the standards which people stay on Aid. There needs to be a time limit. Gone should be the days when people are recieving free money and food stamps for years on end until thier youngest child reaches 18. Plenty of people, with economy the way it is, need help. Which is why the system is in place to begin with. But how is it that some stay on for years without getting a job, or 2 if necessary. Unfortunately, there are not enough social workers to accomodate the need to police the system. They are overworked and have more cases than any one person can handle. Truth of the matter is, everyones' financial situation is different so it is necessary to look into each individual case to verify if that person/family really needs the aid they are recieving.
Ok...let me tell you about this from my perspective.
My husband and I both work full time and in addition I also go to school full time. We ask NOTHING from the state we have NEVER asked for a handout...nothing. we have a six year old son who attends private school at the tune of $5000 a year...in addition to paying for my own college education.
But, I know a woman that is on welfare. She has a SWEET 3 bedroom townhouse (far better than where we live...I mean FAR BETTER), she gets her foodies every month, she gets her allowance and quite frankly she is actually better off. She doesn't have half the bills that we do. Should she decide to go to school her's is paid for...(I pay for mine out of pocket)..I mean anything that she wants is right here. Her son could go to the same private school as my son FOR FREE...vouchers you know!!
So, tell me how it is right. I am not saying that I would actually WANT the help, nor would I ask for it. But, for other people that want to do the right thing...where is the incentive? I could have all my stuff for free too...all I had to do was be irresponsible and let the tax payers flip the bill.
So, IMHO with the way our welfare system is set up, not too much incentive for being responsible.

For every woman living in a sweet little apartment there are people all over our country living in roach infested apartments because thats all they can afford. For every woman getting her foodies there are women going hungry who cant feed their kids and eat themselves. When welfare was created it was to stop the malnutrition that was being found in Americas cities and further restriction of welfare will result in new cases for us to pay for in the health care field. We condemn children to hunger and further neglect when we refuse to understand that some people cant survive without help.

Welfare should be a "hand up" not a "hand out". There should be a time limit and people receiving welfare should have to work for the state for free while receiving it. That would be an incentive to be encouraged to better your own quality of life.
Welfare to some needy people is a good thing.It was designed to be a helping hand,a hand up ,not a hand out.It was meant to be a temporary thing and not a way of life..When there are entire generations of a family that are conceived, live and die on welfare then there is definitely something amiss with the system.There needs to be an agency that can assist people in desperate need,but it should have never become a profession.And that's what it has become.A profession of being a welfare recipient.That is simply wrong and must be stopped.Its far too easy to get on welfare and far too easy to bleed the system dry.Yes there must be a change and it must be implemented ASAP.Far too many people are abusing this system.I feel strongly that you must be a legal citizen of the US to apply and qualify for any kind of entitlements here in this nation.If not then end the welfare system as we have it today.Make this agency accountable .

People take advantage of the system. There are people who don't even bother trying to look for a job. They stay on welfare. They have no ambition or drive to make something out of their life. And they continue to have children on welfare. Sad.
YES! Make it much harder to qualify. I think people get too many freebies without working. In addition, anchor babies of the illegal alien criminals shouldn't get the freebies because that is rewarding their criminal parents - you can quote me on that!
Too many kids grew up on welfare and now, as adults, they are on welfare. That's all they know and every generation it continues.
Since this is placed within the immigration area, I take it that this question has to do somehow with how it is affected by immigration. If so, then yes, we need to change the qualifications to get welfare.
We need all gov. agencies to cross check against another to make sure that the person that is receiving the benefit is legally a citizen and has a right to the benefit. As it stands now, such is not being done.
As more and more Americans are losing jobs along with the influx of more and more illegals - the system is going to have to face the reality of the situation and start enforcement of known laws
Checking to see if one is legally here and that they were sponsored with an affidavit of support, that the one that signed that affidavit pays pays back all monies given.
When a country has such a system and there are people that are living on Social Security at $500 a month and told that they only get $10 a month in food stamps with no aid in medical - while an illegal is getting over $300 a month in food stamps and medical - this is a system that needs an overhaul.
Definitely, an overhaul of the entire system is long overdue. There should be a time limit and no one should get to stay on it forever. Also, it should not be available to anyone who is not a legal citizen of the USA.
Welfare was meant to be a temporary thing to help those in need, but instead people abused the system to the point that there are actually GENERATIONS of welfare users!!
This means the grandparents were on welfare, the parents, etc,etc!! Welfare has become free gravy train for the deadbeat MOOCHERS, and a nightmare for the taxpayers!! Why do you think all these women kept getting pregnant?? Right, the more kids they have, the more WELFARE benefits they receive!!
There needs to be MANY restrictions put on the use of welfare.
1. the recipients MUST be LEGAL U.S. citizens this INCLUDES both parents, and all children!!
2. the recipients MUST actively look for a job!!!
3. there MUST be a limit as to how long a person can receive welfare!!! Being on welfare must NOT be a "lifetime career"!!!
4. Anyone caught cheating, would be BANNED FOREVER from getting any more welfare!!
