Finally George Bush has done something correct. What do you think about his immigration bill?

It is only fair that Bush/Cheney legalize all the immigrants here as all Americans are immigrants or come from immigrants including American Indians. L ife did not begin in America. Besides most immigrants are hired by Republicans so Republicans can not pay taxes and pay low wages therefore fulfilling the Republican dream of union busting. Justice prevails that another Republican would legalize our guests.

Answer:
Remember that barbarians could also purchase Roman citizenship at a price - resulting in anyone becoming a Roman citizen. Rome even proposed that such barbarians be returned across the frontiers for a set period of time before returning to Roman territory as Roman citizens.

These are old, failed proposals which will only accelerate America's decline. Next will be Canada and the entire Western hemisphere will become a 3rd World Continent.
He is attempting to build a legacy other than weakening America. Good luck, he is not the moron. His voters are!
i so agree with u igi.
funny.it seems as though illigals were not here before bush. hillary will sure as hell benifit from it.
This will frighten white working class conservative men because they know that their employers would gladly hire an illegal for 50% or less of their pay, then "downsize" them. When they get frightened they become angry. Let the GOP Civil War begin.
I think amnesty for the illigals is like saying to a bank robber just bring back the money pay a small fee and you are free to go.
Fine the companies who hire them, rent to them, sell products to them... get them the F out of here. If you wanna be here, do it LEGALLY.
this is the worst ideal king bush and co, has ever had.
if it goes through, it will destroy america, and he knows it.
he cannot wait for all of us to starve.
the only way to solve the immigration problem is to deport all illegals.
and then stop all immigration for 10 years.
Mexico is real mad. They can no longer send over their criminals. Now they can only send over educated Mexicans.
do not belive him !
The immigrants before congress is not good. Yes, this is to gain any benefit from these people and yes to harm the American people by pulling down wages. I don't disagree about the past but we are not in the past now. Lets make an immigrantion law that protect the American people.
I have always backed President Bush , on all his policy
decisions, Iraq War ,. Patriot Act, not a problem. That being
said , I believe, if he signs this bill into law, he will need retire to Mexico. I don't believe, it would look any different than Texas, after the Horde, moves in.
Legalizing these immigrants in the manner they wish only helps to serve to Corporate America.

I can't believe no one can see this. Instead of forcing rich people to run their businesses so that they can provide minimum wage jobs for AMERICAN CITIZENS - which they can do! - not only have we let companies ship jobs overseas, but now we are letting them hire Mexicans as "guest workers" at wages lower than what American citizens receive. An American citizen can not compete for such a job. The reason those jobs have been going to illegals ISN'T because Americans won't do them, it's because they CAN'T do them because they can't feed their families on what they pay!

And my liberal and conservative friends all think this is a good idea.

UNBELIEVABLE!
Justice prevails? So republican policy is to smash their own lands, and encourage them to work here for low wages and few rights? What sort of justice is that?
illegal aliens should go back to their **** country.
Eh, I think everyone did the best with what they had to work with and what they were looking at.

This "problem" didn't come about overnight. It started before the 1900's.

There's no real practical solution as naturalizing 12 million just isn't feasible, nor is deporting that many people.

And I'm very skeptical that our borders can really be secured.

The Berlin Wall was 90mi long (if I remember correctly) and they couldn't stop the flow even at the price of being shot by crossing it.

Our southern border is roughly 2500miles and there's just no making that secure no matter how you go about it. And neither is the northern border if you want to bring that up as well.
This amnesty bill, is pure BS.
They should not be legalized. They need to wait in line and do it right and pay the fine. If the one I love has to do that, so should everyone else. Rewarding lawbreaking just encourages more lawbreaking. And those that knowingly break the law by hiring them.Deport 'em all Dems or Republicans. I don't really care. If you think that anyone should just be able to enter at a whim, Lets remove the border entirely. Lets allow them all to pour in. Workers, Drug smugglers, and even the occasional terrorist. By your logic, who are we to judge those who want to come in. They have just as much right to be here as we do, right?

Saying all Americans are immigrants or from immigrants is a subtle attempt to blurr the line between legal and illegal immigration. Learn the difference.
DON'T MESS WITH TEXAN(S)! You borrow a dollar we want triple...
Plus it's only $$$$$$$$
So why should immigrants of Mexican roots be over looked?
One may not know "English" but thank God us Mejicano Americanos can now pass the tourch to our brothers and sisters,friends,who will gladly make us proud on goingly for the next century to come!
Our guests?, maybe your guest not mine... Also please learn the difference between "legal" and "illegal" No one (well most) do not have a problem with the legal immigrants and the constant reminders that we are all immigrants DOES NOT change the fact that the illegal immigrants are not citizens of the US and not trying to become one through proper channels and instead of rewarding the "legal" immigrants who have followed the rules on the path to citizenship we are now rewarding the law breakers with amnesty. That's great logic.

Does anyone care about the LEGAL immigrants?

I do not think the bill will become law I just watched a report of the huge ground swell of disappoint in the bill and I personally think it will not pass.
First of all mexicans are not the only ones who come here illegally,there are many people from all countries who come here with a tourist visa and simply let the visa expire.Then there is the myth that illegals take jobs away from american citizens because they are paid much lower wages.If american citizens were to pick our fruits and produce,which I doubt,we couldn't afford them because like someone says they would have to be paid at least 3 or 4 times what migrant workers are paid now.And lastly America has been on the decline since the 70's and illegal inmigration is only a symptom not the cause of why it is happening,after all,who has been in charge of the government since this country's inception? White Anglo Saxon Protestants.So don't blame the latino people for this country's downfall,blame it on yourselves.
How can the government pardon so many criminals ? The laws have been on the books for years. Use some of the 2.5 trillion this proposal is going to cost US the AMERICAN taxpayer, and ENFORCE the law as it is written. This is a repeat of the 1988 proposal..it didn't work then, and it won't work now. LISTEN TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ! ARE WE NOT SHOUTING/ SCREAMING LOUD ENOUGH FOR YOU TO HEAR US in Washington ? Or maybe it's just that you are so out of touch with the rest of us you really don't care ?
Can't this Government hear anything but the sound of cash registers ??
I call for a VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE in the Untied States Government !

They have asked the people of the Untied States for suggestions to the immigration problem. Well here is my suggestion...

Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:
# in the country legally;
# have the means to sustain themselves economically;
# not destined to be burdens on society;
# of economic and social benefit to society;
# of good character and have no criminal records; and
# contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

The law also ensures that:
# immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
# foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;
# foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country's internal politics;
# foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
# foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
# those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.

Who could disagree with such a law? It makes perfect sense. The Mexican constitution strictly defines the rights of citizens -- and the denial of many fundamental rights to non-citizens, illegal and legal. Under the constitution, the Ley General de Poblacion, or General Law on Population, spells out specifically the country's immigration policy.

It is an interesting law -- and one that should cause us all to ask, Why is our great southern neighbor pushing us to water down our own immigration laws and policies, when its own immigration restrictions are the toughest on the continent? If a felony is a crime punishable by more than one year in prison, then Mexican law makes it a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico.

If the United States adopted such statutes, Mexico no doubt would denounce it as a manifestation of American racism and bigotry.

We looked at the immigration provisions of the Mexican constitution. [1] Now let's look at Mexico's main immigration law.

Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:
# Foreigners are admitted into Mexico "according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress." (Article 32)
# Immigration officials must "ensure" that "immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents. (Article 34)
# Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets "the equilibrium of the national demographics," when foreigners are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when "they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy." (Article 37)
# The Secretary of Governance may "suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest." (Article 38)

Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:
# Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)
# A National Population Registry keeps track of "every single individual who comprises the population of the country," and verifies each individual's identity. (Articles 85 and 86)
# A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).

Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:
# Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116)
# Foreigners who sign government documents "with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses" are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)

Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:
# Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)
# Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)
# Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico -- such as working with out a permit -- can also be imprisoned.

Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says,
# "A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally." (Article 123)
# Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125)
# Foreigners who "attempt against national sovereignty or security" will be deported. (Article 126)

Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:
# A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)
# Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)

All of the above runs contrary to what Mexican leaders are demanding of the United States. The stark contrast between Mexico's immigration practices versus its American immigration preachings is telling. It gives a clear picture of the Mexican government's agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States.

Let's call Mexico's bluff on its unwarranted interference in U.S. immigration policy. Let's propose, just to make a point, that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) member nations, and the United States Government, standardize their immigration laws by using Mexico's own law as a model
I have no problem with immigrants living in America, so long as they become CITIZENS and learn the language. If illiegal immigrants get amnesty, it's like rewarding them for breaking the law! It's like saying "oh, you murdered that family of 5? Here, have a new Porche!"
this bill SUCKS!
I think its a nice idea, but as with so much government behavior it does not go far enough to really address the problem. Our naturalization requirements do little ofr nothing to protect the US from danger. There should be thorough records checks and instruction in citizenship, That won't happen because as a nation we have received social studies education primarily from coaches marking schoolday time until sports practice time. We should focus on citiaenship education to strengthen our nation.
The bill is a waste of time and money.. we have laws already on the books about illegal immigration.. we need to worry about enforcing those laws rather than pass a new bill-
