I moves to UK and although yes my English is not very good I has worked very hard, I hav not ever claimed a benefit ftom UK. I came here to work and i work very hard for my own living

There are migrants who don't know the language of the country they're migrating to? It's a bit unconscionable to go to someplace where in you have less opportunity to connect, and you can't even communicate.
America is different from other countries in our policies on immigrants. But, I do feel that if people want to make this their permanent home, there should be incentive to learn the language.... And their really doesn't seem to be.

are you talking about immigration or asylum? These are two entirely different subjects. We are duty bound by eu regulations to accept a certain number of asylum seekers every year whether or not they speak English. As far as immigration is concerned, the government has recognised that immigrants are only a benefit to our economy if they can speak English and bring with them a certain skill that we need. They are bringing in new tests but it may take a while until the home office starts being more efficient.

Its wrong to give anything to people who havent paid into the system by working.Here many immigrants get welfare and work cash jobs.Most women are married but stay common law so they can get money for their kids as well.
Today's society in the US has become, for the most part, bilingual. However, I feel if your going to work in the United States you do need to learn to speak atleast basic English. English is the countries language and just as if we went to another country we have to learn the language or we don't understand. That country doesn't change their language, I would just have to learn how to speak it.

Yes I know!! What ever happened to charity begins at home!! It is our benefit system and free NHS that brings so called refugees to this country! I know it is unfair and I think if you cannot prove that you are in danger in your own country you should not be considered for refugee status in this country. And also I don't agree that a person cannot be deported if the country from which they come is unknown. If you are not going to be honest about your circumstances then you have no right to be here!!
Fair do's that there are people who come to this country because they are in danger in their own - due to war, etc. But what I don't get why do they end up being allowed to stay here forever, and get given a passport. Surely once they are no longer in danger in their own country they should be sent back home.

A bilingual country is a divided country. All people entering this country (except the Spanish - or so it seems) have taken the time to learn English.
Why don't we declare that the official language of this country is English (or "American" if you prefer) and get on with uniting all groups?

Anyone who can not speak enough of a native tongue should not be given access to FREE BENEFITS unless they can prove that their ancestors fought in WW1 or WW2 for our freedom and democracy. If they can not prove a tie to a WW veteran then kick them out. If you never fought to save this country and Keep it British then you have no rights to food, shelter or medical care.
I do think people should learn to integrate if they are going to live here - integrate, that is, not denounce their culture like so many seem to want them to do. That includes learning to speak the language. In Holland, immigrants are inducted with language lessons and ''citizenship'' classes. It seems only fair and sensible. So in that sense, I agree with you, and think you raise a good question.

My former boss, from many years ago, came to the UK from what used to be Yugoslavia. She could barely speak any English, but still got a job working with the public. She worked hard and learned English - and was a senior manager within 5 years. Her English is incredible and she's been a hell of a lot more successful than plenty of ''native'' Brits. So open your mind and think logically like an adult. Sheesh.
Oh what small minded people we seem to have in this country! I am Canadian but live in Scotland, my mother is Scottish but lives in Canada and My father is French (from France) and also lives in Canada. I have 2 sisters 1 of which lives in Germany. My point being, My father did not know any English when he went to Canada, but he did teach himself and has worked for that country for over 50 years. He got benefits for a small amount of time( he is a very proud man who has brought up his family in this way). He took on jobs such as apple picking , picking up rubbish on the highways to support his wife and young kids until he was able to have a better understanding of the English language adn get a better paying job where he was also able to purchase a house which I might add they still live in. Why are we all so hard on people who want to go to another country and live? Why arent they entitled to having benefits for a while until they can establish themselves? Look at how much of the British public scam the governmant and dont work a day of their lives? Yeah of course there are people who arent of British extraction who do this as well but I think you might find that the majority of people who do come to this country are actually quite hard working and know the meaning of work. They dont sit on the asses all say watching Jeremy Kyle or Trisha. What would our society consist of if we didnt have all nationalities venturing off to other parts of the world? God, our life would be sooo boring! I was lucky to have parents who tought me that if you want something, you work for it. I have never been so proud of what my dad did in order to start a new life. So if him getting government funding for 6 months had a hand in it, so be it. I look at what he has now and know he worked hard for every damn penny. Get an education or put some thought into your answer before submitting , cause you'll just look like a fool otherwise.
I see the poster's point about the elderly and I think they should be looked after, especially as they were the people who fought in the war ect, but its the governments wrong doing, not the people coming to the country. Look at how the young people of today have no respect for the older folk, this seems to have been set by the attitude of the government who themselves dont believe in offering adequate pensions ect.
