How does the recent expansion of the EU make it easier for Bulgarians to immigrate to the UK?
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help, it would help me for my geography DME exam.
Thanks x
Answer:
The recent expansion of the EU makes it easier for Bulgarians to travel to the UK and stay legally up to three months, because we don't need entry visas any more.
It allows Bulgarian students to study in the UK under the same conditions as any other EU citizen.
However, Bulgarians' right to work legally in the UK is restricted - work permits are still needed.
This automatically means that, pretending it accomodates the expectations of the British people to restrict immigration in general, the UK government is in fact welcoming illegal immigration from Bulgaria and Romania. Much like during the dry regime in America in the beginning of the last century - it is creating a niche for smuggling cheap low qualified illegal labor. This is coupled with increased expenses for creating control units in the police and/or expanding their functions.
As it is now, skilled English speaking individuals, if they decide to leave the country at all, will prefer to move to countries with a liberal regime, like Sweden, Finland, Cyprus, Poland, Estonia.
So, I guess you can now decide on your own whether it will be easier or not for a Bulgarian to emmigrate to the UK.
As an EU resisdent you have the right to live in other countries within the EU without the need for a visa so it is easier for them to move to the UK
Yes- they now have freedom of movement due to the pathetically short-sighted acquiescences of sovereignty made to the EU. If the EU remained as it was envisage- a club for G8 members not for Euro-Slum nations, and we kept out anyone who doesn't eat a nice ham sandwich- the UK would be far better off.
Muslims and Africans have nothing but negative contributions to UK society. No-one can prove otherwise.
I there a bridge involved? Many people have cars and find it easier to drive.
Because they won't need to apply for entry clearance visas anymore.
First of all you EMmigrate from one country and then you become an IMmigrant in another country.
The process would not be the same if Bulgaria were not part of the EU. However, while the UK government sits on the fence and doesn't really know whether it wants to be the 51st USA state or remain part of Europe, it has imposed a quota for work permits for people from Bulgaria and Roumania. Presumably qualifications and knowledge of the English language will be advantageous - although, since most people in the UK are no longer capable of stringing three words together to form a sentence, and those who can will almost certainly make spelling mistakes, it's difficult to know how the choice is to be made.
