Rachel B lives in a dream world. We should put the National Guard on the border, armed and with bullets, to detour the illegals and the drug smugglers. The cold hard truth of the matter is without drugs and illegals in this country crime would be reduced by more then 60%. Thus making it safer for all. Immigration needs to be reformed o those who want to work and have jobs waiting for them should be allowed to enter of county in an orderly fashion.

No, not at all. I think we need the National Guard back from Iraq in order to protect our own borders. And what about that border patrol officer that was half beaten to death last week? He deserves a promotion.

I have been getting an impression that there may be institutionalized corruption, or at least incompetance in parts of the border patrol. I particularly get this impression while reading more and more about that border patrol-shoots-a-smuggler-in-th... case where the border patrol got sent to 10 and 11 years in jail, respectively. I can see the sense in a rigorous investigation and imprisonment of any corrupt higher ups, absolutely.
