At the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok, the Thai woman interviewing applicants for Visitor Visas was rude to the point of nastiness. My wife was sponsored by a female executive of a big international company based in Toronto whom she had assisted for a month while she was on a visit to Thailand to bury her brother; the two of them got on like a house on fire and when Canadian woman returned to Toronto, she wrote and invited my wife to visit with her family over Christmas. My wife is a full-time student at university in Bangkok and the interviewer reduced her to tears by implying that my wife was only going to Toronto as a sexworker. Even though we had all the right papers including the Canadian woman's payslips and Sponsorship Letter, my wife's uni results for two full years and our joint bank account details, it was "No Go". We dropped our application.
