My plan is NOT to on F1 for various reasons. My school is okay with that and so is my employer who is willing to amend my H1 to reflect the part-time nature of my employment. But can I accept the fellowship from my school while I am on h1 with my employer?
Note that this is not an assistantship, I am not obligated to work for the school in return for the fellowship? but is there still a problem?
If yes, can I ask the school to amend the fellowhip to a tuition only part and accept only that (without the stipend)?
