Dennis Kucinich Says All American Children Should Be Required To Learn Spanish?

i have an idea. how about all the children learning ENGLISH!
i have worked in classrooms where everything is in spanish. text books, the teacher speaks 90% spanish, bulletin boards are spanish, it looks like a picture post card from a school in mexico!
that has got to end and kucinich is an idiot. i had a converstaion with him a few years back at a university function, i dont believe i have spoken to anyone so inept and unrealistis in my life. his naivete, charming i am sure to some, was astounding. and he wants to be president. amazing....

Dennis Kucinich evidently believes it is an American's duty to assimilate to the Spanish-speaking illegal alien way of life. What better way to accomodate these lawbreakers than speaking their language?

American children should learn at least two languages before they leave middle school: English and another of their family's choice. Dictating that students should learn Spanish basically prohibits many students from learning other foreign languages like French, Chinese, German, Russian, Arabic, etc...
How about we get the mexicans to learn ENGLISH and then our own kids learn the language then maybe we can talk about learning Spanish.
i believe that the official language of the united states of america is english. i dont think that any child should be forced to learn a foriegn language to use in their homeland is they cant speak english ship their behinds home to whereever and let them learn english and come back here if they desire it
I went to high school many-a-moon ago in the 80's. I was required to learn a foreign language (at least two years worth) I chose Russian. So I think it is okay for a school to require a foreign language requirement, so long as there is a choice and some variety.
Dennis is moron. WE don't need to learn spanish unless we want to,but THEY should learn english since THEY live in America.

I took German and French. Spanish/Mexican is a gutter language.
That is a tricky question. I personally think that it should be optional to learn Spanish, not required. I think that learning spanish would come in handy, but it's up to the parent if they would like their child to learn a second language.
Guess Dennis has a right to his opinion but it seems to me you learn English when you live here and what other language you learn should be your own chioce. Spanish isn't going to do squat for me if I'm going to China. Not gonna help me if I'm majoring in Russian history. Isn't going to help if they need Arabic translators. Isn't going to help me if for a medical degree. Learning Spanish isn't going to do squat for me but learning English is going to improve their lot in life.
I'm not a prejudice person at all. But, this is THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!! If I was moving to France I would learn to speak French Before I went. We should not have to conform to visitors. They should have to conform to us.
Dennis Kuchinich is so full of BS it leaks out his pores every time he speaks. I agree about it's good to have a second language. Because there are so many Spanish speaking people in our country Spanish would be a good second language to learn.
What about the other languages that are increasing in the U.S. We live in the South West and there are so many ethnic groups now. A lot of Asians, too.
But I am starting to digress. This country was established as an English speaking country. The Germans were the largest ethnic group at the beginning and were so for a long time, but I don't believe German was mandated to be learned in our school. One of the things that holds a society together is a common language. I believe that English should be the official language of the U.S.
The other day I went to use an ATM machine and it had six different languages you could chose from to do your transaction. Enough is enough.

Make ENGLISH the official language of the U.S.
According to the Constitution, the Federal government has no authority to mandate the curricula of schools. I believe parents should decide what their children will be taught, with a voucher system to ensure a wide range of choices.
That said, I think parents would be wise to encourage their children to learn Spanish.
Dennis Kucinuch is not worth talking about . He can't get funding or support nationwide. He keeps running , seems to have an overblown ego that is not justified or qualified.
He said they "should" learn Spanish...not "be required" to learn Spanish. Please make a note of it.
