It's not 100 million more.. it's 100 million in addition to normal population growth, which will be another 100 million or so. This kind of population growth will seriously overtax our infrastructure and drag us towards 3rd world status.
In 1970 there were 200,000,000 people. Today there are more than 300,000,000. It seems like it will be that way amnesty or not!
As for supporting those people, of course, China has a billion more than the US and they do fine.
The US population went up by 100 million over the last thirty years and I do not see us busting at the seams. I think as long as 100 million people do not show tomorrow, we can handle it.
Remember the US population would continue to grow substantially without an amnesty. Instead of hitting 400 million in 2040, we might hit it in 2060.
That is too many people and you are right we would be like China.
We can support more than you can dream! We can afford to build a couple more cities! Not the same ones everytime?
It's beginning to look as if all the ethnic groups of our nation are going to have to learn that having children you can't support is tantamount to murder of our nation! Don't most people realize what a travesty it is to keep having babies when so many are already starving? Maybe teach it in schools but it'll have to be in Spanish, I guess! We need to deport the illegals yesterday!

And like some already said. We are well on our way to that number with or without amnesty. These people are already here.
