Is it easy for American muslim women to move to live in Jordan?
Answer:
Moving to Jordan is one thing, presumably you have a family there that will sort out the bureaucratic procedures, which I don't think will be too difficult.
Living there depends a lot on your situation and your expectations. Although you are a Muslim, and may have grown up in a Muslim family, life in a traditionally Muslim country can be very different to what you ar used to in the States. As a gross generalisation, you may feel very protected, but also very stifled.
Also, for anyone, living in a different country can be at times very hard.
My advice would be to go for an extended visit first, learn Arabic, and keep your options open, eg make sure that you stay in contact with your folks back home, and that you have access to your passport and to the US embassy.
There are all sorts of "horror stories", but it really needn't be like that, just keep your eyes open!
Good luck
It is easier to get in than get out, as I understand it. I am not sure it is still true, but you used to need someone there to sign for you to get OUT, as I understand it. Also, my cousin married someone there and her family had to extracate her. She couldn't stand it.
Not to say you would feel the same way, since you may be more used to the culture. She wasn't, even a little bit, and was used to the American attitude of 'Ladies first' not 'Ladies can't drive.'
