Answer:
Funds were not appropriated, only troops were sent to assist in the building of it and to aid in guarding the border. Boeing received a contract for surveillance with what they are calling a 'virtual fence' (cameras, monitors, sensors,etc.). Volunteers continue to build the fence with donations.

Them politicians pulled another fast one on all of us.Oh well, nothing new there. Bush told us we needed a fence 2 years ago? I still see NewOr;eans America needs help, I still see that Homeless people in USA, alot of them are US Vets, even if not alot, one is too many. For 50+ years we have welcomed any Cubans or whatever from wherever, but a fence across the 2nd largest National Border is gonna stop people, dream on. And pass that oil as we are we are gonna need it to fry the Tortillas!

i was web surfing one night a ran into a web sight that was for border fence project. it said if americans would donate $5 and up, we could get the money to build the whole fence. if any one knows the web link please post it.
McCain and Kennedy and some others are introducing a revised Senate Bill with fast track amnesty, and are talking about 'revisiting' the border fence. I don't know if they will put a provision in their new bill or if they plan to just not fund any of it not already funded. I saw that Homeland Security this week went to El Paso to discuss locations for the fence (El Paso most doesn't want one, being a sanctuary town.) Other than that, I think we need to remind our Congressmen that we care.
