What do you think of the Chinese-American baby who was denied 25,000?
Toys r US were supposed to give 25,000$ to the first new year baby, but because her mom was illegal, she was disqualified.
I think this is wrong because the contest is not about the mother, it's about the baby. It's not the baby's fault if her/his mom is illegal or not.
What do you think?
Answer:
I think toys r us was wrong .The baby is American ( born in America) though the parents are not , and your right its about the baby . I also disagree that the other baby that they instead awarded the prize to acted in lack of taste making a statment that the baby was disqulaified and they can not go back and take her grandchilds award away . She was best to remain quiet and stay out of the matter as the debate is not with her
THE BABY IS A LEGAL CITIZEN !
who is he
I think as long as it was stipulated that the mother and baby have to be US citizens, then it's fair. If it's something they just made up afterwards, then no, it's not.
Yer I do think it's wrong.
I think your correct. The baby cant speek for its self or defend its self so this is pretty much gay of Toys R Us. =]
IT WAS CLEARLY STATED IN THE RULES THAT THE MOTHER HAD TO BE A US CITIZEN
That is perfectly fair
illegal immagrants should not be hear they should become american citizens and learn English
Never heard of him. Is this a bogus web site.?
His parents were illegal. People don't say anything about it when it's a Chinese person, but if it was a Mexican or anyone of Latin origin everyone would be screaming "illegal aliens!" Then you deny it's racism.
I agree with Toys R Us. They have shareholders to answer to, most of whom are middle aged married couples with children. They do not want to set an example of condoning out of wedlock babies.
I personally have NOTHING against out of wedlock babies. I think all types of families can be good and loving families.
But, I am very pro-business, and believe businesses should be able to prosper, or die, based on decisions they make that are theirs alone, not the goverments, nor private people other than investors.
If the baby is bitter, what a baby.
If the rules were printed and you did not read them, then how do you know for sure?
Did you read the rules all the way through?
I agree entirely with you, and I'm glad I'm not alone on this... =)
The contest was about the first baby of the new year, not about her mother or her legal status in the country. The baby was born an American citizen, and she deserved the college money from the prize. Just because there are rules does not mean they are fair.
Besides, most chinese people are actually running away from a totalitarian dictatorship... doesn't that qualify for an assylum request?
It's right, because on the entry form, like most entry forms, it reads "Open to legal residents only."
Thumbs up for toys r us,if more companies would stand up for whats right and not bow to illegals crying racist this country would'nt be in such a mess.
As much as I love the Chinese(I think Asain women are very hot), I must agree with the decision of Toys r US. If they do not go this route they might get in trouble with the immigration service, or even be liable for suit by others. This is a very sensitive issue in the USA nowadays.

I think we don't know enough to make a decision. I don't like to base my decisions on what the media is reporting. We don't know if maybe the rules were that the game is for US citizens only, for example. I think we would all benefit from reading rules and paying more attention to the things we choose to do.
OMG - you MUST be a liberal.
RULES ARE RULES. Mom was not a US Citizen and those were the RULES! Why in the heck HAVE rules if no one follows them.
Too bad for the child, but the rules stated the mother had to be an American citizen. If you don't meet the eligibility requirements for a contest, whether you agree with them or not, you don't get to win the prize, regardless of whether or not you, or anyone else, feel it's fair.
I had not heard about this until now. I wouldn't think that legality was part of the equation. The only thing that Toys R Us has said, from your comment above, that the first child born in the USA would be entitled to $25K.
Having said this, I would check the contest regulations to make sure that it doesn't have some reference to being a US resident...check the small print too. If there is no such regulation on the official rules, then an actionable suit in court would be appropriate. You need to be certain of the facts before proceeding.
They had eligibility requirements and the mother made the baby ineligible. End of story!!!!
And what is your opinion on illegal aliens?
The contest rules said the mother MUST be a legal citizen. She was NOT..Toy R Us did the right thing to not give the prize to that baby. The rules didn't say anything about the baby only that the MOTHER MUST BE A LEGAL.I applaud the company they did the right thing. If you read most prize rules you will find that in the rules.....And really ,who really cares?
Don't care..
I wish our government could take a lesson from the management of Toys R Us and use the same reasoning and deny benefits to babies born in the USA of illegal parents.
Kudos for Toys R Us!
