Telephone the United States Embassy and ask.
is your visa still valid? if not then you might get some questioning when you go through the interviews to get your new one, show them your hospital/doctor check up records, they are very likely to ask for them. if you visa is still alid then your not suppose to have any problems.
Depends on whether or not your passport was stamped at the airport when you left the US. If it happened, I would advice you to order a new passport if you are not looking for troubles! American immigration officers at your US port of arrival may ask you to...take a flight back to Europe without letting you step onto the US soil.

you should not have a problem as long as you turned in your
I-94W and you did not apply for a Driver License or state Identification card, have not been previously employed, unless authorized, in other words anything that might indicate you violated your status as a visitor and you were actually setting yourself up to live here as an overstay, your reason of not flying after 9/11 is valid. the only problem is that the immigration /customs did not really keep track of who was entering or leaving the U.S. pre 9/11 and shortly afterward, until fingers started being pointed. I was just informed of an Italian national that attempted to enter but was found to have a business card stating his name and address in the U.S., had a state driver license and admitted working while in the U.S.even though he did not over stay his 90 day period, he was refused entry and sent back home the next day at his expense. All this came about because he appeared to be nervous when questioned by the admitting official.
