Make it a felony to hire an illegal alien, with mandatory jail time for any employer caught doing so....give the illegals who are already here an opportunity to step forward voluntarily to be counted and get registered with a guest worker card. Those who do not step forward after a designated time should be deported.
I know. Lot of people is not aware of it in the US, but the US government has a lottery game world-wide, to win visas, and greencards. they even pay for your ticketst to get here. The problem is not the people who get hear legally with valid visas, and greencards...but whenever they dont leave the country when their visa expires, and those who have green cards can invite anyone to the US(with a short tirm visitor visa only)-but then those ppl would stay here too. the US cant track them down, cause these people, would work cheaper, the employer doesnt registrate them, no taxes, no SS numbers..Ta-dah..noone can track them down.

This is a complex problem...
First of all, it seems we have a statue with a sign on it that says bring us your tired your weak, your huddled masses. To me that is a sign on the door that says open 24 hours.
Now with that said, we have to impliment a way for people who want to come here easier access to become citizens. It's a very time consuming and expensive prospect to do.
You have to realize most imigrants, and I'm going with the Mexican immigration situation here, come here for a chance to make a better life for themselves. Some are only making upwards to 2 dollars a day. Now they come here, take a job nobody wants for less than minimum wage under the table. With the idea of making around 4 or 5 dollars an hour as opposed to making 2 dollars a day... a trot over the border looks pretty good. So the problem isn't that they are coming over in droves... It's a no brainer that they would. We have to make it to where if they come, there will be a process to where they become citizens and start to live as Americans.

most countries that have a good economy have immigration problems. the acceptable anwer is variable. it would be nice if people could live where they choose, that's not the case tho'.
to me, if people are not a 'threat' to the country they're wishing to enter, they should be allowed in. legally and realistically speaking,most peoples are (at least slightly) xenophobic, and have laws concerning immigration.
tolerance and acceptance may help make a truly "free world" eventually.

I feel that if you come to USA you should do it legally. I have no problem of people coming here (legally) to pursue the American Dream. If you do so you should do as I and all American born citizens have had to do. Work for a living, pay your taxes and take care of your family. As I understand illegal aliens have come here and work below minimum wage. Become a citizen, work to pay your own way and pay taxes so I don't have to work more to pay taxes that go to paying for you and your kids. People have come here and have gotten Social Security, low cost medical services and I have worked since 16 y/o to get what I want. Another thing LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH.
there are only a few GOOD options.. however, we can pass all the laws we want saying what we are going to do to solve the problem but if the govt is not willing to get up off their butts and do something about it..like enforce the laws.. does it really matter if there is an answer..It's going to get to the point to where Mexicans (illegals) put up a border to keep the US citizens out cause it won't be our country any more.. However until the govt is directly affected by them STEALING our services and jobs..nothing will be done..
