What do you think about the green card DV lottery system?
Points would be given for education and level of English, and the more points you have, the more changes you should have.
And they should add points for motivation and knowledge of the USA too.
The DV lottery is not good! I know people who play the lottery .... just because they like to play lotteries!! Seriously, it's true! One of my coworkers saw the ads to play for the lottery and thought it would be nice to have a green card. I asked him what he would do with it if he won...... His answer was: " well, I would put the green card in one of my drawers and if one day, something happens in France (like a war, or something really bad), I could use the green card to go to the USA"
This guy obviously didn't read the instructions! because if you win a green card, you have to use it; you can't just keep it like this at your home lol!!
I think there are plenty of people like this who play the lottery just to play :-(

I agree with you if there are no other way to get green card. I also understand that there are many people lost their opportunity because they didn't used it within a year after they won.
U.S. offer many other way than lottery. Specially for people like you who are very well educated. For example, Working(H,L.O,P,Q,R visas), exchange programs( J visa - Specially teachers) . There are investment immigration and list go on and on. (Once you are in USA legally, US give you the chance to file for adjustment of Statue)
Diversity lottery is there to give people a dream to get into USA. 55,000 is very small opening, and it does what it supposed to do. If we fix the system like what you want, than it's not a true lottery any more. It will be like any other visa program.

The system is not fair as every Tom Dick or Harry could be given a green card.
Where are the states going to benefit with this plaln?
Nothing that sounds this good will be a benefit to the average people who need the help.

Heck with the lottery! Find me a beautiful female Chemical Engineer PhD who can't stand global dependence on fossil fuels (and who wants a green card) and I'll marry her!!!
