I am on a company visit visa in sharjah, does the company have the right to keep my passport?

Answer:
No. If they do, they have a form of control over you, because you cannot leave the country at your own choice.
I would say not. That is your property and I would be worried if someone tried to keep it. Tell them they can take a copy of it if needed but that you need the original back.
Very much yes Because, the company fears that after getting to Sharjah or any foreign land you may quit the company and join with other company. It also depends on the agreement you sign with the company before visiting a foreign country.
Nobody has the right to keep your passport. Only when you are under investigation for a crime and the authorities have reason to believe you are an escape risk.
