Would I be able to work in the US?

I am currently living in the US and have a Green Card. I'm interested in a part time job, but I don't have a social security number (haven't applied for it yet). I do, however, have a tax identification number (called ITIN - individual tax identification number) which I use to file taxes. Would this number be enough for me to legally work? Thanks!

Answer:
in some places, yes u can work cuz u have all the legal papers & identification. why don't you apply now for social security# ? it don't take too long to apply for that, and then they will send to you the card after 2 weeks.
I think thats good enough as long as you have legal identifications
You need the SS#. It's not hard to get. Just go to your local SSA office with your documents, fill out form SS-5, stand in line, and they'll send it to you in a couple of weeks.
I believe you are required to have a social security card as part of any employment process
Your question makes me wonder why would you have need of a tax identification number for taxes if you are not working already?
It should be ok, but it doesn't take but a few minutes to apply for a SSN. Your ITIN number may be your ssn. These are usually numbers issued to foreign students for school.
yes.
