What do i have to do for my Australian husband to immigrate to the US?

My husband is from the UK and were married in the UK and its been an easy process for us (with help of an attorney). The best thing to do, is both of you fly back to the US. He will have a visitor visa which is fine (it will either be a visa you get or will be a visa waiver as I think Australians can travel under this). Hang on to it and fly in. Just tell immigration you are coming for a visit. Once in, go to an attorney. Mine cost $3000 but he will file all the paperwork on your behalf. This includes a resident permit, a work visa and a travel visa (the US govt does not like for those applying for citizenship to travel out of the US unless you have a travel visa). Once your paperwork is filed, they will contact you to have his fingerprints taken. Following this, you will recieve the work permit, residency status and travel visa. Then you will have an interview in a year for permanent green card. Make sure that once he has his permits, therefore his SS card that you put everything, including tax returns in both your names. We tried to do it on our own as it was much cheaper but it was such a hassle and were so afraid we would miss something. This way it has been competely worry free.

As a US citizen, you are entitled to bring your spouse to the US. There should be no problems, as you have been married so long.
