My father was born in Cuba. I was born in the USA. Do I have "duel" citizenship?
Answer:
As far as I know, as soon as people leave Cuba, the communist regime there recinds their citizenship. Your father would probably face prison if he were to return.
You are NOT a Cuban citizen. In any way, shape or form. The way it works now in Cuba is that the children of those who have defected from the US are about as welcome as the parents who have defected.
See the link below
You are simply a US citizen. It's "dual" citizenship, by the way.
nope
No. But you would have a dual citizenship if you go to a different country now and obtain citizenship there while keeping your American citizenship.
to duel is to fight with someone. Yes you might have dual citizenship though.
No, you are a U.S citizen because the United States does not have diplomatic relations with Cuba at this time.
your father does
The United States of American does not recognize dual citizenship. You are an American citizen or you are not, we don't share.
No the United States does not have dual citizenship. Part of the oath is as follows:
Of particular relevance to the dual citizenship issue is that, as part of the oath, a new citizen must pledge "to renounce and abjure absolutely and entirely all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which the applicant was before a subject or citizen."
You can not have dual citizenship doesn't matter where you were born.
It would depend on Cuba's law whether you have citizenship there, and I haven't a clue. I tend to suspect they don't encourage those who came here, though.
Dual citizenship is not recognized under the Cuban Constitution. So the answer to your question would be no.
