The 14th's purpose was to keep Confederate states from denying citizenship to freed slaves; several Confdt states could not rejoin the Union unless they voted to ratify the 14th.
The Court isn't req'd to review writings behind an amendmt or the const'n & it's decisn's are often just to prove their power to congrss.

The writers of the Constitution were/are obliged to WRITE down what they intended. Although a Supreme Court is necessary to "interpret" the Constitution as the third leg of our government, you can see what a mess it leads to when they "interpret" whatever they want based on what they claim was "intended". We cannot care what was intended, only what was written.
First Amendment on religion: "Congress shall make no law.....", and as long as congress makes no law, there is NO violation of the Constitution. However, the Supreme Court would rather make their own law through "interpretation".
When the Constitution does not address an issue that should be addressed, we were given the means to fix it WITH AN AMENDMENT, and the courts would be uninvolved. The problem is that the government doesn't follow the Constitution any more and the American people don't know or care. We're cooked folks.

The more I know about the government the more I feel the US is destined for failure sooner than later because of the lack of intelligence that is going on in the system. Because no one person is ultimate in intelligence that is why things should be well expressed, informed about and a vote be given. Those who are actually benefitting from the system are bleeding it dry to where the standards of living for all will go down as low as they are in many foreign very corrupt countries.
If you are not a US citizen then you should not be given the benefits that tax payers pay for. But your rights should be protected in the case you are involved in a court of law for the sake of the US citizen. The last thing I want is a foreigner sitting in jail for a crime like murder who is innocent simply because they did not get an intepreter like they use to do here locally with the legal and illegal Hispanics who work here such that a legal citizen who is guilty of murder goes free to endanger others still.
