Need Tourist Visa for Mexican National?

My Girlfriend lives in Mexico and wants to come and spend a month with me this summer. Go to Disney Etc. At the US Consulate in Merida Yucatan, Mexico they refused her a visa because she does not own her own home or have enough money in the bank. She knows people cross illegally every day with no money and is confused as to why when she trys to be legal and tell the government where she will be and what she will be doing they deny her. Can anyone tell us how to get her a visa. We do not have a lot of money but want to be together for some time this summer.

Welcome to the wonderful world of US Immigration. Many wonder why so many come to US illegally when it would seem to be cheaper and safer to apply for a visa.

Unfortunately there are enough applicants from countries like Mexico, Bosnia, Philippines etc. who know that if they can get across the border there is very little risk to being in US illegally. Tourist visa is a cheap and easy way to cross safely, and requires very little money or time to apply for.

Marriage visas are another often abused category. So the approval process on these is around a year while the applicant is checked out.

Since your friend doesn't own a house, she wouldn't be abandoning it -- strike against her

She's probably young and single ... add female and she is seen as high risk for settling with a US boyfriend and not returning -- strike against her

Not working or low income employment, so low range US job is an improvement .-- strike against her

In short according to a check off list that the Consular Officer is required to follow without exception, she is considered to be high risk for overstay ... US Government prevention program is to deny the visa.

USCIS believes that strict enforcement of immigration at the Embassy & Border is more important than locating and deporting the illegals in US.

So as a result of the enforcement being aimed at sealing the border instead of rounding up and deporting the visa violators & illegal entrants who made it past the Border Patrol your friend will likely be waiting many years to see the American Disney parks

I'd suggest you and the others who may read this contact your representatives in Congress & your Senator to ask them to enforce the laws currently in place preventing overstayed aliens & illegal entrants from remaining in US. Until those laws are enforced they will continue to deny honest people a chance to enter legally.

That is odd. I go to Mexico almost monthly, and have never heard of any Mexican being denied a tourist visa based on a house or Bank account.
Mexico is an odd place, and I hate to say it but a few bucks to grease the wheel would get her here legally.
she needs to show proof that she will come back to mexico .... ll
